WHAT IS DATING?
Dating is an initial stage. It is not a time for the partner to enjoy, but rather a phase in which you can determine whether or not you are compatible. That is, it is not meant to be a game because it is solemn. However, dating can take various forms. There are two types of dating: courting (traditional) and modern. So, which is which?

Courtship Dating
Courtship dating takes longer time as it involves a more formal process, often with parental involvement and clear expectations for behavior. The primary goal is to establish a strong foundation for a long-term relationship, often leading to marriage.
There are terms for courtship dating in Cebuano.
They are commonly called “Pangharana” and “Pangagad.”
Pangharana (serenade) is a way for a man to express his admiration and affection for a woman. So to do so, a man will perform outside a woman's window, usually at night. A performance that involves singing romantic songs and playing musical instruments like a guitar.

"Pangagad," on the other hand, is a formal proposal or request for a woman's hand in marriage. It usually involves the suitor presenting a formal proposal to the woman's family, seeking their blessing and consent. In this form of courting, the Filipino suitor accomplishes household and farm chores for the family of the Filipino woman.

So in this type of dating, a man's sincerity is tested and measured. Because it takes hard work to do so. And this type of dating usually leads to marriage (but not always).
Modern Dating
Modern dating is the common type of dating now. It emphasizes individual growth, self-discovery, and exploring different romantic possibilities. Online dating apps, casual encounters, and a focus on individual exploration define this approach.
There are different characteristics of modern dating:
Online dating: This type of dating is the most common dating I have observed. I have met so many people in my life who dated through social media. Various applications support this type of dating.

Casual encounters: Many people date casually and begin with casual explorations before commitment. So in other words, before the two commit to a serious relationship, they will begin or start dating casually. It involves what they call the talking stage, or char² (if less formal).

There are also dating terminologies that have arisen because of this dating strategy:
Ghosting: Honestly, I found this word funny the first time I heard it. I was just thinking about ghosts, though. But eventually, I was taught that this term refers to the sudden disappearance of a partner without explanation. So that's why. 😂
Red and Green Flag: These two are the most common among the youths. What is the significance of the flag here? Haha funny. However, according to some, a red flag signals potential problems of a boy/girl whereas green flags indicate positive qualities.
Benching: To be honest, I have never met a term like this. I guess it's not common, though. But if not for my cousins, I would never have encountered this type of term. So according to them, benching means keeping someone as a backup option while seeking other potential partners (if I'm not mistaken).
Which One is Right for You?
There is no single "right" way to find a partner. The best approach depends on your personal values, beliefs, and cultural background. Both types of dating can be romantic depending on the MAN. So there is no right or wrong when it comes to a man's approach to winning the woman's heart. The only thing that matters most is the intention. I cannot give you deeper advice regarding this matter as I don't have any experience, not even once, being in a relationship. But still, even though I did not experience it myself, I knew what a dating-based definition was.
So if you ask me again as to what type of dating is better, I would say that “the best type of dating is the one that suits your values.”

For today's generation,courting is no longer practiced by some teenager for others take it seriously even if they are not yet ready to take a new challenge of their lives. I mean it teenager must focus first on their studies. Teenager must have dating and courting only if they are all mature, mature in all aspect like emotional, physical,mental, spiritual and most of all financial. Right @rufajane ?
Maybe they found it impractical for this day. But still, I believe that it's not about the method of dating, it's about the intention and motive. Hehe
Casual encounters is top tier. It's slow burn, it doesn't rush you or jump in an impulsive decision to enter a "relationship".
Yes, some partners would think the same.
