I blamed nothing, and there still seems to be some misunderstanding. This will be my last attempt to clarify intention and message on this point, hopefully I do a good enough job.
I had my character echo a common concern, then pointed out the historically accurate observation that anonymity tends to result in dehumanization, distance from one another, and more aggressive forms of communication.
This is a factor in why people type less-than-pleasant things from behind a screen that they wouldn't dream of saying to another human being face to face.
