I don't believe in your GOD. That seems like such a harsh statement to people who are strong in their beliefs. I'm sorry for that, but it's true. I don't believe in your GOD. I do, however, follow a faith trail that may or may not have a supreme entity somewhere along it.
I decided a long time ago that GOD in the form of an omnipotent being was malarkey. I questioned it mercilessly. Would a being that created such a complex design as life just leave it to chance. I would think certainly not! I have to believe that your GOD would want to cultivate it and make it a symbol of his love and kindness. Look around you at our world. Your GOD dropped the ball on that one. I don't believe in your GOD.
Obviously Christian religions and their teachings are what I was brought up to believe, but there are many religions in the world. I can't speak on their teachings or dogma, but I can reiterate my previous point. If your GOD is the singular important entity to creation and faith, then I don't believe in your GOD either.
There are so many belief systems in the world and so many ways to practice your faith. What if they're all wrong? What if they're all right? What if your beliefs are just on part of a giant theological puzzle that cannot be fully understood till you have all of the pieces in place? Those simple questions caused a lot of thinking in my life over the years and brought me to the path I follow.
I believe in the core teachings of all religions. They are a roadmap for conducting your life to be the best human being that you can be.
I believe in my soul. Most people in my experience believe there is more to them than just body and mind. All of the emotions and all of the strength needed to rise above tragedy come from a deeper part of us. For all intents and purposes, I would call that the soul.
I believe in reincarnation. I feel like I've been here before and I will be here again, and I mean here as in a vessel. There are infinite possibilities for life in the cosmos and I believe when your soul is untethered it is free to travel the cosmos till an appropriate vessel can be inhabited.
I believe in fate. I guess that is the closest to a GOD that I center my belief and faith on. Something somewhere has to be guiding us from vessel to vessel in the hopes that we reach some cosmic potential.
I believe in an afterlife. That may seem counter-intuitive to my previous belief but let me explain. When a soul is created it is with a purpose. It may take a millennia to achieve that purpose. Souls are forever, vessels are not. You grow from vessel to vessel to accomplish your purpose. When you have reached your full potential and vessels are no longer necessary for you to learn, you become a being of light. A higher power. Perhaps even a guiding hand for souls trying to realize their purpose. Who really knows?
As humans we are always evolving in our thought processes. These are the beliefs that I follow now. That hasn't always been true and I don't know that it will be true in the future. They are the now and what keeps me comfortable with the unknown.
