And it keeps raining...

It’s been a long time since we’ve had such a long and continuous rainy season.
Last year was extremely dry—we even had water restrictions across the entire Iberian Peninsula, including the north. It was so severe that many people believed this would become the new normal: the desertification of southern Europe due to climate change. In response, governments kicked their anti-drought plans into overdrive, investing billions in new technologies, such as advanced seawater purification.

I’m not complaining, though. This is fine. At least we’re spending money on something that might actually be useful in the future. But the funny thing is, ever since my country started rolling out these massive climate change investments to fight drought… it hasn’t stopped raining! (LoL)

Now, let me clarify—I’m not a climate change denier. However, all those so-called experts are already claiming that this unusually long rainy period is also… you guessed it… due to climate change.

It’s odd because my great-uncle tells me that this kind of weather used to be completely normal around here just a few decades ago. In fact, what we’re experiencing this year is exactly what a typical Mediterranean spring used to look like. So, for now, this doesn’t seem like a symptom of climate change—it feels more like a return to normal, part of a natural cycle. Again, I’m not denying climate change, but having one dry year followed by a rainy one still seems well within the bounds of normality to me.

The only thing that annoyed me today? Besides the rain, it was also windy—so I had to skip my running routine.

And it keeps raining… which, as always, is good for some and bad for others. 😉

Yes agreed, some like the rain and some not and those who don't make speculations. I love rain.

Yep! Yesterday and today, the Martinho Storm "hit" us in a pretty thought way. Heavy storms, and very strong winds (+100km/h) yesterday throw a little "Mayhem" in Lisbon and other coast cities.

here in italy i can't remind such a hot march, some trees have flowers already, usually it was cold...less water issues here too tough
