Delegate and Win

Damn, damn, damn!
Sorry for the outburst… but it’s been a long time since a Monday started off this badly. Work-wise, I mean—everything else is fine.

Today, I had no choice but to stay at the office, which meant I couldn’t leave at noon for my running club. The consequence? There’s no way I can go for a run today. I also couldn’t go out for lunch… in fact, I ended up devouring a crappy sandwich from a vending machine. A total disaster.

This isn’t an excuse, but lately, I’ve had so much work that I barely have time to go to the bathroom… sometimes I even forget. I know this can’t go on. I need to delegate more. And I’m working on it. The problem is that, depending on the task, saying it is much easier than actually doing it. But yes, delegation is a golden rule that must be taken to the highest level and applied whenever possible. Without fear.

Delegating doesn’t just help you; it also helps the person you’re trusting with the task—it’s an opportunity for them to learn and grow. It’s the key to knowledge transfer, personal freedom, and the long-term sustainability of any business or project.

We often believe that if we don’t do things ourselves, we won’t get the expected results. And while that may be true at first, in the long run, it’s not. Making ourselves indispensable in every critical activity turns us into slaves of our own system. It might seem like this gives us power, but in reality, it only makes us more vulnerable. Over time, an organization that relies too much on one person is doomed to fail.

That being said, at the beginning of your career, it can be beneficial to make yourself indispensable—absorbing as much knowledge and expertise as possible. But as the years go by, you realize that the goal isn’t hoard knowledge but share it.

I delegate to be happy. The problem is, sometimes it’s hard to find someone to delegate to.
And in those moments, like today, I struggle…

Okay, I have to get back to work... I'll see if I can delegate something to someone before I go home (LoL)...

What position do you have? If it's too low it gets harder to delegate, if you are high ranked it's kinda easier but you need to find someone with good competency

I'm highly ranked, however, as you said, good competency is not always easy to find
