I have never studied English (and it shows haha) in school we never past the colors. What I'm doing now to practice is write the posts in English and then translate to Spanish, if it makes sense then my mistakes weren't awful.
Sometimes I also write in the text box of gmail, like sending an e-mail, I do this because that's not a translator, that's a writing helper for business so it's awesome to correct not just the spelling but the grammar.

PD: I'm horrible with past tense and the "s" for third person, I know how to use it but I always, and I mean always, forget them while writing.
