They have this magical psychological property that generates hope.
Here are the toys I dabbled with in the last quarter, in reverse chronological order:

- Vim/evil-mode in emacs
Something interesting in there: only one item is atom-based (earbud) and one other is conceptual (zettelkasten). Take that for what you will.
Learn to detect psychological staleness. It may feel like boredom, or it may feel like hopelessness.
Pick something to live on the cutting edge with.
Spice things up by adopting a new toy, it's an easy hack to create something to look forward to.
For some, that's all it takes to make a good day.
