Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new concept car, a stylistic reference and development of the C111 concept from some 50 years ago. However, what is most revolutionary is technology. At Vision One-Eleven, the company presents for the first time a new generation of electric motors, developed by the wholly-owned British company Yasa, which the German giant acquired in 2021. The new Yasa's axial-flux electric motor is about 2/3 smaller and lighter, with more power than traditional radial flux electric motors. The Vision One-Eleven has two such engines on the rear axle. M-B does not give too many technical details, but announces that such engines will gradually appear in new Mercedes models.
