Between Seasons

Here, the transition between fall and winter is slow and drawn out.

Frosty mornings can be followed by warm days.

Flurries can change into soft showers.

Heavy rain can become hail.

One night brings thunder and lightning, another howling winds.

And it carries on like this.

Until it doesn’t.

I’ve fallen behind on my posting, so it’s interesting to look back on this batch of poems from three or four weeks ago. Their mix of imagery seems to clearly reflect this strange in between time.

Keep reading and see what you think.

the sound of rain
slightly different now
I get another blanket

fishbowl
on the outside
looking in

descending
in every window
a new story

(4)

this chill in air
if only it were
just winter

(5)

boom boom daddy
wooooow
first thunderstorm

carried away
in the waiting room
a violin crescendo

changing my tires
I lean into the smell
of a wood stove

Winter is here, clearly (not for me, I'm roasting here).

Greetings @boxcarblue ,

What a lovely arrangement of words that speaks to our souls....thank you so much!

Happy Christ-mas to you and yours,

Bleujay

Happy holidays to you as well. As always, thank you for your comment and your well wishes. 🙏

Nicely done! Sounds like winter weather is moving in and the cold right along with it. I hope changing the tires wasn't too expensive, everything costs a fortune these days. How is your youngest doing with the thunder? I know some kids hate it!

I change the tires on my own. I have no idea how much it costs, but it doesn’t take much time and energy, so I do it myself. Three times. 🤣

My car, my mother-in-law’s car, and my sister-in-law’s. I always get a six pack out of it. 😬

I’m not much of a drinker, but it’s nice just the same.

My son liked the lightning and thunder. I was surprised.

If the cars aren't real big it's not problem. But it's nice of you to do it, plus some beer out of the deal. Glad to hear your son liked the storm, some kids really don't. I used to enjoy thunder myself, but developed PTSD from the military and since then it is nerve racking!

I hadn’t really thought about how much smaller the cars in Japan are, but you’re right, the van I drive now is just barely manageable, but still small when compared to an lot of American trucks and SUVs.

That’s a shame that you can’t enjoy thunder storms any more. I imagine fireworks must be difficult too.

Winter is my least favorite, so when it starts transitioning from fall to winter, I start longing for spring.

BRRRrrrrrr.....

I enjoyed your post.

Winter is actually my favorite season. 🤣 When there is snow.

The rainy, slushy transition is tough though. I live near the coast, so the winters tend to hang in limbo for a while.

I haven’t spent much time on here lately, so I haven’t checked on your posts in a while. Hopefully, you’re just as creative and productive as ever.

I haven't posted in a week ! I've been spending my time doing holiday related things and not as much playing on my computer. :)

It’s a busy time of year, isn’t it? I understand.
