(1)
preparing the Obon altar
a wind chime rings
they’re here
(2)
over dinner
Grandpa drops pieces of
the old days
(3)
rambunctious kids
it never ends
the lazy river
(4)
the wind carries
the smell of flowers
blooming somewhere else
(5)
pulling weeds
I find the legs of my son’s
beetles again
(6)
highway robbery —
airport water
ten dollars a bottle

at my footstep
a bird takes flight
the spaces we share

Greetings @boxcarblue ,
Oh thank you....Your lovely poetry is allowed to swim around me, parsing every word, giving it a think as a word, a phrase, as a whole.....I need not know why.
The poetry speaks for itself.....seeking a home in my frame of reference...just as art is to each his own when he views it ..he finds a piece of himself in it.
Thank you for opportunity to speak on these things.
Kindest Regards,
Bleujay
It’s nice to hear that you can find yourself in these poems. I often imagine other people doing so and hope that they can, so your confirmation of this is reassuring. 😊
Many things that will never end! Kids full of energy, airports ripping you off for a bottle of water, and the old geezers talking about how much better things used to be....At least the lazy river and wind chimes are always pleasant things!
And our turn to be those geezers is rapidly approaching. 🤣
I heard some interesting stories about the old days this time around. One was about having to swim naked at school during the junior high school swimming classes in P.E. And that wasn’t from my grandfather, that was from my father.

Lovely words,
Those are universal thoughts available in every country, especially the one about airport robbery:
''highway robbery —
airport water
ten dollars a bottle''
In Japan, the airports are still reasonable, very little markup, but in America it’s out of control. How is it in South America?
I'm from Romania, here is also crazy, 1 bottle of water at supermarket 50 cents, in the airport 5 euro.
I don’t know why but I thought you were somewhere in South America. 50 cents to 5 euros is a big markup.
