Working with Fragments

Sometimes I write from real life, sometimes I don’t.

This past week, a number of one-liners, incomplete phrases, and images floated into my mind and wouldn’t leave until I had found a way to turn them into poems.

Without further ado, here they are.

(1)

praying mantis
dancing on a pink cosmos
our evening dinner show

(2)

rolling thunder
in the other room
a family argument

(3)

beams of sunlight
between the cedar trees
a cobweb glistens

IMG_3658.jpeg

(4)

the blue hour
coming home to
an empty nest

(5)

a foreign postmark
the distance between
two hearts

(6)

parting
I feel a subtle change
in the wind

(7)

behind the geese
the migration begins
driving to Florida

l think the poems says that dispute don't eat up good times when there ls love 🥰🙏

Well, love is no guarantee of anything. People give up on lots of things even when love is involved because of their pride or their ego or because they just think that it’s for the best.

Very interesting! That picture I assume is the inside of a slide? It's really cool.

Each of those poems are nice, and many I can relate to all too well. Good old family arguments that you aren't in the middle of yet you get all the stress by listening in... The empty nest you won't have for quite some time with the youngest, but I come home to a quiet house all the time. Often too quiet...

Long distance relationships, geez I don't miss those... And driving to Florida I must confess I've never done, only flown. Right now I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the state. I had my share of hurricanes in my years living in the Caribbean.

Great poems! How are you doing?

Doing fine. Slugging it out with the daily grind.

Yes, two of the pictures are from inside a slide. One of the benefits of having a little one around. You sometimes end up in strange but cool spaces. 🤣

Yeah, Florida got walloped. My parents both have houses down there, but they were fortunate and escaped damage.

Greetings @boxcarblue ,

Lovely work...your words bring visuals, memories, and thoughts which become mine...as in art.

When I see your work come through, time is set aside, a tea is poured and the moment enjoyed.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

I’m happy to that. Thank you.

Beautiful words @boxcarblue, love the imagery they have conjured up xx

Thank you. It’s nice to hear that.
