HOW I SEE THE WORLD (A POEM)

AT LEAST I ASKED THE QUESTIONS

Have you ever wondered why most people don't ask?
Do you know why they give themselves all the task?
Do you think it's an act of egotism?
Have you filled your heart with much criticism?

Have you paused to reconsider the matter?
Or has your censure grown even fatter?
What if you condescend to their shoes?
Would you still demand if you see what they've seen?
What if another inquires that you've choose?
Would you accept reprehension that's never keen?

Do you now understand that nobody's worth your bid?
Do you now see it's just you alone you need?
Of what use is their aid when it's conditional?
Is it sensible to pay just for circulating decimal?

Do you think you need those who offer a hand where you need a ladder?
Would you approve when you hear the bell ring your name?
Is it satisfactory when the assist and not the goal gains the fame?
Is it not better earned than rather?

Am I now free to act as I will?
Do I not know that there are men worth trusting still?
But what could be said when evil still prevails?
What could be done when what's in the inside I can't unveil?

IN SUMMARY

World's richest men have adopted philanthropy as a medium to give back to the society. They develop organizations, they establish foundations targeted at providing relief to the less privileged around the globe. Their efforts are much appreciated even as they make sure the media carries it along. Help is considered a display of kindness to people in need. Many are willing to help no matter the outcome while others decline for they feel people lack appreciation while others ask with evil intentions.

Many others too, as highlighted in the poem refuse to allow help come their way because of people's intentions as they give out. They rather carry out their motives themselves even when it seems too heavy for them to handle it on their own.

To many, people with such psyche are pushing themselves too hard, are proud and should let their guard down. They fail to acknowledge some of the reasons surrounding their resolve.

Taking a little time to reexamine the matter, we could find out that instead of criticizing people who choose to do it themselves we might see reasons with them. Many offer help for what they stand to gain in return, others act as if they are helping or feeling for you when they know that they are in the best position to offer solution, whereas others do well to let the world know that would it not be for the help they rendered one wouldn't have achieved their goals.

There is never any dispute in the fact that many have better intentions when they lend a helping hand, but for fear of falling prey to predators who feed the ears hungry to listen with their accomplishments and philanthropic gestures they resolve that it is better earned.

Help can never be a vice. May we continue to offer a helping hand for the purpose it serves and that is to save, to assist and to keep people away from hard conditions and not for selfish interests. Let us be the change we wish to see in the world!!

This is how I see the world. This is a view generated from life's experiences and as such does not oppose any differing view

Truly let's lend a helping hand to those that need it.

Truthfully, giving is one thing we must do with our heart... Offering help is very important as we live in a world so demanding and hard.
