This is the continuation of a poem I posted yesterday. Still on Dickinson and the inspiration it gives me. Read the first part here

Do you think hope can be killed?
Like a bird in a cage
Whose wings are clipped
And isn't allowed to fly
Do you think hope can be miserable?
Like a child full of dreams
But squashed and told to sit
And everything taken away
Is hope a lie?
A way we convince ourselves
That we'd get through it
Day by day as we refuse to see the truth
Is hope dead?
A joke born from hatred
Lost dreams
Regrets, wishes
Do you think hope is unhappiness?
Alone, ashamed
Broken pieces that can't be fixed
Dead, yes dead

Not only is it a beautiful poem, but you invite me to think about hope from a position that I never imagined, how dangerous is hope?
How dangerous is hope indeed. I'm glad you found meaning in it. Thanks for stopping by.
Manual selection by @cliffagreen.
Thank you!
I love the way you pose this as a question @chinyerevivian
And it is certainly true that "hope can be futile, and hope can be brutal."
But it is also "a flowering mind state."
From my understanding of your poem, it seems your intention is not to say hope is literally dead... but it can feel that way sometimes, and when depression rears it's ugly head hope can be brutal for sure, I know this from experience.
Ha, ha instead of cryptically linking my poem reading about hope in the text I'll just drop it here to watch in the comment. I hope it gives you hope, and if your poem was being ironic I apologize for not recognising that.
Hugs 🤗 x
No worries, and thank you for sharing. I enjoyed it very much.
The gift of poetry is free and hope can be found in the oddest of places.
I hope you're well? x
I'm very well. Been happier this year.
Hope is the best thing that keeps us going. Free as a bird in the sky. Thanks for such lovely poem
Thank you for reading.
Una nueva mirada para algo que todos acostumbramos ver de la misma forma: la esperanza. Excelente poesía, @chinyerevivian.
As I live and breathe... this is even more sublime than the first! Never have i thought of Hope this way before. Thank you...
