My Encounter With Poetry!

It has been a frequent question for me to tell about my poetry composition. Some of my friends always ask me about the detailed procedure which I follow while composing my poems. Though it is so difficult for me to tell them how I come up with the ideas and make them into the beautiful form of poetry. However, I will try to write some of my observations regarding it.

In the very first place, I must say that there is nothing special that I follow to brainstorm my poetry ideas. It happened several times that I had no particular plan or thought earlier about the topic or style I followed while writing a particular poem. Many people can have different ideas about writing; but I always follow the way which I call 'The Spontaneous Way!'

For me poetry is like a powerful flow of emotional attachment with the poet himself. And it is his/her own way of telling the subtle feelings and painting them into beautiful verses.

I imagine my mind as a blank canvas where I can put powerful strokes of words that make my reader gullible to consider its subtle beauty and colors. I follow the path where the words and phrases come easily and the thoughts flow freely towards their ultimate destination. I take my inspiration from my experiences and a bit of my observation skill. From my early childhood I think I had some kind of inquisitive notion of things that I encountered. This innocent feel or perception made my mind as a mirror of thoughts and provoked the excitement.

I adore the core human feelings like emotions, raw feelings of joy, sorrow, love, and longing. Though it is difficult for me to translate them into lyrical expressions. And the most difficult task is to resonate with the subtle human spirit and emotional attachment.

When I try to give my ideas to a certain shape, I simply surrender myself to the utmost power of language. As many of you already know that I am a language enthusiast and I feel good about the notion of linguistic norms; I give full freedom to the power of discourse. The impactful nuances of words, their textures, and their melodies make my way smooth and help me to explore more; dive deep into the realm of magic.

Sometimes poetry is like a sculptor molding clay giving a certain shape to acquire the desired mystery to unfold. Unlike many poets around the world I made an alliance to simile and metaphor and believe me they are like a friend of mine whom I always adore. Other literary devices and figures of speech like personification, melody, imagism, irony, satire.... have a distinct impact on my composition. If you are a regular reader of my poems you can easily relate them with your own personal observations.

I think it is a personal journey towards enlightenment. It can be considered as a voyage of personal or self expression of the individuals encounter towards love, fear, emotion, vulnerabilities and of dreams. Every time ai compose a poem, I discover a subtle new within me; and when I finish writing and disclose it to the world with the hope that people may relate it with their personal feelings and observations.

But I must say that the main purpose of my encounter with poetry is gaining personal pleasure. I simply like them, adore them; they give me a certain feelings of fulfillment and at the same time they are like a mysterious way for my escape from the earthly hazardous situations. So, may I welcome you all to the beautiful world of poetry.

Thank you for your time. Feel free to drop your feedback anytime. I'm eagerly waiting for your comment..

You have perfectly put in words the way I write poems sometimes. Your poems are always thought-provoking with vivid imageries.

Inspiration is key for me. And this can come from personal experience or things happening around me. Poetry births the passion deep within us and bringing them into the light. Beautifully written! I enjoyed reading this piece. !LUV 🙂

Personal experience and a subtle touch of deep observation can help compose the beautiful thought provoking poems.

I also read each of your poems; they are simply good and I like your diverse attempts of different human emotions of your theme.

Thanks for stopping by...

For me, poetry is like a powerful flow of emotional attachment with the poet himself. And it is his/her own way of telling the subtle feelings and painting them into beautiful verses.

This is key, poetry is an attachment with the poet to express just how he feels based on experience or background and then bring words into light or let imagination come into reality.

Yes, you are right. But sometimes it feels difficult to express exactly whatever I feel within. I even tried going with the flow; not being super conscious about the topic and word choice.

Thank you for your comment and inspiring words that always motivate me.

I agree with you that I do not use a specific method or ritual to write poetry, poets with time and practice, we sharpen the observation of the environment as you rightly say, because what may seem to others something meaningless, that goes unnoticed, for the poet, is the river of inspiration that flows.

Reading your post, it came to my memory a poem of a great poet from my country, Venezuela, called Eugenio Montejo, who once wrote this poem that I share with you about what poetry was for him.

Thank you for sharing with us your encounter with poetry, I enjoyed reading your experience.

Poetry crosses the earth alone,
rests its voice on the pain of the world
and asks for nothing
not even words.

It comes from afar and without time, it never warns;
it has the key to the door.
As he enters, he always stops to look at us.
Then he opens his hand and gives us
a flower or a pebble, something secret,
but so intense that the heart beats
too fast. And we wake up.
