the words are on the paper
but they don't always rhyme
just echos fading softly
adrift somewhere in time
when the memory's all we got
and even that wants to fade away
when we can't even remember
to which gods it is we pray
somewhere in the ether
floating through infinity
is a tether that is binding
every you and every me
sometimes I still sit a spell
toss wishes to the wishing well
then you slip my mind again
but we never say farewell

I lile the way this reveals itself to be a poem about separation in the final stanza.
Initially it feels as if it may be about personal development, and the change im the final lines pulls the whole together in an unexpected way
