Not that long ago
In a place
Not far from here
There were two people
Much like you and me
Young and predictably
Carefree
But time then space
Grew up between them
Overshadowing
Every single thing
And they reached out
But they missed
By a hair's breadth
Silence stretched
Too thick for words
To pierce it
Too strong
To falter under a gaze
And so
They went
Their separate ways
I wrote this poem in two stages over a month apart so, to be honest, I'm not even sure what I wrote it about anymore but, as I've been reminded time and again, poetry isn't just about the original meaning. You can take from it whatever resonates most with you and still leave exactly as much meaning as it had before you read it (sometimes more if you add your interpretation to the discussion).
Peace ☮️.
Very beautiful!
Thank you! 😊

Thanks, today's been so hectic I know I would have missed it and I appreciate the good news 👍🥳🎂
This poem reminds me of my best friend who is no longer here with us. Despite the gap of space and time he left absent in my life - and many others, he's equally close to my heart as he is distant up in Heaven. This is truly a beautiful poem, thank you.
Thank you! I'm glad my poem brought your friend's memory to mind ☮
Very nice poem, not necessarily a poem has to have a great meaning to be good or special, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for reading and commenting :)
