RE: The Pandemic

Y'know, on one hand, I feel there's this sort of tendency in our minds, to say "Oh, we still remember the pandemic- it wasn't even that long ago, we just barely got out of it!" But at the same time on the other hand, it has been years since the pandemic ended, and we've long settled back into regular life. The pandemic has grown quite abstracted in our minds; we remember what happened, but it's hard to truly remember how it felt. It's surreal to actually try to think back to that year so precisely, and I feel like this piece really encapsulates that. I dunno, just think it's really neat.

I am humbled that my poem was able to provoke these thoughts in you. All of our lives somehow got divided into "before the pandemic" and "after the pandemic", which I find very interesting.

And certainly, on one hand we still think that the pandemic happened yesterday and on the other we cannot vividly remember every aspect of that one year.

Just goes to show how funny our human minds are.

Glad you liked this poem ❤️
