I can't believe that you’ve got me out of sorts again
Sitting on my couch with a glass full of Jameson
The famous green bottle sitting empty on my bar cart
You and the alcohol are slowly killing my heart
I'm just here for the numbing effect
With or without you I've always been fucking wreck
I could use a little less booze
Because I could do with a lot more of you
But I'm not stupid I know it's not happening
So I'll just sit here and listen to Bob Dylan sing
I never got to add to your collection of diamonds rings
So I'll take another edible so I can't feel anything.
And I need some lidocaine
Maybe snort a line or two of cocaine
Top it off with some Novocaine
Maybe you could smother me with cellophane
And I can't even say your name
Because those letters all together just bring the pain
And I need some lidocaine
Please give me something somewhere that will numb my brain.
I guess I really don't have it so bad anyway
Compared to the world out there full of death and decay
Suicide and drugs and war and ignorance and hate
Makes it hard to believe in love and hope and dreams and fate
The feeling never lasts it's always temporary
But time marches on so fast that it's scares me
When I wake up I take up
A position that I fake like makeup
I shake up the status quo and I go
About my day with the flow
When I go home I turn on the television
I try to change my mindset, try to make a revision
It's a slow fucking process like a river of molasses
The vision ain't clear like trying to see through dirty glasses
But I keep on keeping on one step at a time.
Heeding words of encouragement in every word and every line.
Powerful one, Scott! I think we've all "been there" to some degree.
