Yes, I think that sand is a great reflection of the ever-shifting nature of the universe, and even includes time in that analogy. As the sand can flow like water, or solidify into stone I think time flows continuously but we make it almost a solid thing in a strange way in our minds, by chopping it up into measurable pieces and focusing too much on the future or the past.

But time is happening now, its flow is now.

Yes you were becoming spiritual but it is great thank you for the comment. Indeed we solidify time and chop it up into measurable pieces. It seems so hard to remain in the now - where there is only the present moment. We all experience bursts of it though- those are special times.
