Why give birth to a child when you yourself haven’t
Asked for forgiveness, scrubbed off the sins
All we see are fragments of reflections and has been’s
I wanted your love because I needed to survive
Straightened my back, held up paper-thin mirrors
Shards under the rug as we kept granting favors
The nightmares keep coming and I am awake
Listened to glass shattering, you were walking away
The mirror looks more and more like you everyday
I wish I knew about breaking many years before
Cried into my wounds, flinched at the touch
Was a child asking for her mother ever too much?
Thank you for reading, internet friend! I enjoyed playing around with scenarios and storylines for this week's prompt. I'm fairly new to the community by I hope I can learn a lot and write and read some more.

One of my favorite parts of your poem is in verse 3, where you talk about seeking forgiveness and scrubbing off sins. The imagery you use here is so vivid and evocative. It really resonates with me, Keep Up the good work!

This lines are deep, I can only wonder why the pain kept increasing. Maybe the first time to do was to ask for forgiveness. Nice lines

What a touching poem! Family relationships can be complex, especially that of a mother and child. Once it's broken at a point, the pain that follows can't be erased in a single moment.
