Where History Aches

Block by block/they built a divide/
each crumbling heart/ each war-torn stride/
amidst the wreckage/ banners unfurl/
ghosts of the fallen/ memories swirl/

Nakba

Generations crushed under the weight of disdain/
where power is currency/ and truth/ but a chain/
the world watches closely/ yet turns from the flames/
false words of compassion/ lost in the blame/

Intifada/Intifada/

What price is the heart? What toll on the soul?
Nations entwine in Israel’s dark role/
Through convoluted histories/scars never heal
the cycles of sorrow become all too real/

From the sea to the river/
Palestine will live forever/

Hold on to your hopes/ in the winds that remain/
in the rubble of buildings/ where lovers once lain/
in the garden of struggle resilience is grown/
in the call to fight back/ spirits are sown/

From the river to the sea/
Palestine will be free/

Intifada/ Intifada/ the restless plea/
for a dawn where the world shall see
