RE: into the night

Sounds like the rain is back in force along with those fall leaves. The seasons just seem to fly by. I understand thinking in a foreign language, I spent so many years in Spanish speaking countries that it's just like English for me. I find myself still thinking in Spanish from time to time even though I'm in the US now.

I guess as we age the boredom goes away, replaced by stress a lot the time. Funny how life works! Great poems like always

Maybe if we didn’t have phones, we’d realize that we are bored. 🤣

What countries did you spend time in?

I spent a lot of time in Chile and Argentina, but pretty much all over South America. Then I live in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico) for several years. Never spent as much time as I wanted in Europe, and never made it to Asia. It's a small planet but still hard to see it all in one lifetime!

I’ve heard that Chile is a really beautiful country. What took you to South America and Puerto Rico?

Southern Chile is gorgeous! Education and work, I first went to Southern Chile as a ski instructor when I was 18, picked up Spanish pretty quickly and got offered great paying job in Santiago after. Never looked back! It was a lot of fun!

I’ve met a lot of people who’ve worked as ski and snowboard instructors around the world. I wish I had known that was a possibility when I was 19 or 20. It sounds like a great way to get your foot out the door and make a lot of good connections.

It's a great way to get out and start making a living. You do a make a lot of contacts and friends in the process. There really is nothing like getting out and seeing the world away from the US, to realize just how lucky I was growing up here.
