I kept moving, far from home,
Creating distance from the clock,
That reminded me of where I belonged,
But adventure called, distracting me,
Drawing me deeper into mystery,
Unsure of what to do or what to imagine.
My heart felt light with joy,
But my legs grew weak.
The birds in the trees urged me on,
Yet my hands became stiff.
The waters called out to me,
But the sand pulled me back,
Holding me tight.
Then I realized how risky it was
To be far from home,
And so, I thought of turning back.
My heart felt heavy with sorrow,
Yet my legs rejoiced.
The birds mourned my return,
Yet my hands celebrated.
The water fell silent in disappointment,
While the sand stood firm in joy.
Then I understood,
The forces that held me back
Were my home, my refuge, my place.
And there, I was meant to stay
For all my life.
