The screams of caged angels,
A boundary from freedom,
A cry to be free,
A caged dignity and virtue.
The picture of what was once white turning black
A lost sense of humanity,
A trade of the human heart for the beast’s,
A pure innocence exchanged for bloody guilt.
White wings, broken and replaced with the devil’s black.
Eyes that once sparkled like diamonds,
Spotless as freshly washed white,
Now replaced with deep, bloodied black.
The lost identity of the innocent.
A voice once as calm as the sea,
As sweet as honey,
Now filled with the grief of slavery,
A cry for redemption!
This poem describes the loss of innocence and freedom as it compares it to angels being trapped in cages.
It also talks about how purity and goodness slowly fade away as replaced by darkness and suffering.
The imagery of white turning black symbolizes a transformation from innocence to guilt and from humanity to something cruel.
The poem also expresses deep sorrow, as a once peaceful and beautiful voice is now filled with pain, longing for freedom and redemption.
