Counting, down the hours,
misconception of time,
trapped in a series of re-runs,
forever seeking, the wilderness,
that frolics at the edges of our mind.
The need to sink down,
to finally grasp
the abundance that surrounds,
to allow ourselves to free fall,
to surrender,
to the unknown.
But the illusion of time,
bears so heavy
weighting us down,
the race to achieve, to compete,
to lose our minds,
in unnatural rhythms, that pull us off,
(self) course,
our burdens of expectations,
feeding into the lies.
And our eyes and heart,
betrayed by this notion of time.
I wrote this whilst sitting by the river, the very one you see in the photos above. I sat down, took a deep breath in, so ready to immerse myself into my surroundings. To the sound of the water flowing past me, to the mountains that surround me, but my mind had other plans. Suddenly my head was full of thoughts of what I had to do, where I had been at a certain time, which was only a few hours away. My mind was drifting and I could begin to feel the stirrings of frustration raise in me.
Ahhhh.
Get out of my head.
And they did, with this poem.
The images used in this post, are mine. They were taken today as I sat by the river.
Soul-felt words, and inspired by and in such a magical place! Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem, and your process that led to it, @trucklife-family. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Thank you my friend xxx
You're always deeply welcome, amiga mía, of course! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Evocative words spoken from the heart, and so very true. The river looks beautiful - a perfect place for a dip. :)
Hey there, it's been a while. So good to see you back on here. I hope life has been good xxxx
Thankyou my friend. I'm good thankyou, I've been taking time to appreciate all the little things that people take for granted, been enjoying my time in nature, and catching up with some old friends. I hope life has been treating you well - I've always appreciated your writing and perspectives. :) X
The imagery of "re-runs" and "the illusion of time" is particularly powerful. The poem's message of letting go and surrendering to the unknown is both poignant and timely.
Thanks so much xx
Coupled with the stunningly beautiful nuances of blue (sky & river), the notion of "time" vanishes in front of your eyes leaving the heart to stop chasing the mind. I love the outcome of your so called "mental-diarrhea" 🥰
