A few stupid lines about yes, maybe, and no

you could.JPG

You could do better
but you choose to do worse instead
and when worse comes to worst
you blame fate
and find a bottle to forget.
This is madness,
she said.
And he said,
yes.

You could get help
but you choose harm instead
and when you wake up in the ER
you say that nothing makes sense
and that nobody gets it.
Insanity,
she said.
And he said,
yes.

You could change your ways
but you choose to stay the same instead
and when the mistakes repeat
you admit defeat
by way of the hand you were dealt.
You're fucking crazy,
she said.
And he said,
maybe—

but you're missing the point,
because the choices available to you
aren't always available to me.
I can't explain it,
but I can tell you it's tried to kill me before.
This isn't gonna work out,
she said.
And he said,
no.

I loved it. I like the dialogic tone of the poem and the twist in the last stanza. Superb. !PIZZA !LUV

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for taking the time to comment :)

This makes me think of a similar poem my friend had written a while back about a
"monster" inside of them

Yes, it's not an original theme, but I like to use it because it feels powerful and relatable. I guess your friend would understand :) Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

I loved this poem, I didn't expect that 180 degree turn at the end, it's like a vicious circle that keeps repeating itself constantly but well in the end people don't understand, thanks for sharing ♥

The cycle is vicious but it can be broken :) I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for your nice comment!

I liked the progression of the poem and the dialogue too.

when worse comes to worst
you blame fate

This line really piqued my attention as I've seen it happen numerous time.

Ps: great photography by the way
