Dear friends, today was a special day. My oldest friend Predrag Braca Sučević celebrated his 95th birthday. Every year on August 24, we gather to mark this day. Braca Sučević has a master's degree in Biology. One of the best connoisseurs of the flora and fauna of the Vršac Mountains. In addition to the Vršac mountains, Braca explored the Deliblata sandstone, Veliki and Mali rit, the Karaš and Nera rivers.
Geološki sastav stena, bogastvo biljnog i životinjskog sveta. Odveo me je na jedno mesto gde ima jedna zajednica Hrasta medunca za koju on jedini zna. Brali smo lekovito bilje kojima su naše planine bogate. Zajedno smo osvojili sve vrhove, prošli staze i bogaze kojima niko nikada nije prošao.
I have to admit that I learned a lot about the Vršac Mountains from Braca Sučević. First, when and how they were created. The geological composition of the rocks, the wealth of flora and fauna. He took me to a place where there is a Honey Oak community that only he knows about. We picked medicinal plants that our mountains are rich in. Together, we conquered all the peaks, crossed paths and trails that no one has ever crossed. I was not the only one whom uncle Braca took and showed the Vršac mountains. He led all those who wanted it. He also guided the famous academician Jovan Tucakov to whom he showed some plant species that were thought to be found only under the Danube in eastern and central Serbia, above all medicinal plants that were thought not to exist in the area of Banat and Vojvodina. Academician Tucakov was surprised by these discoveries shown to him by biologist Sučević. He translated his many years of research into several books. Last year, he completed the large Herbarium of the Vršac Mountains, which he donated to the City Museum in Vršac. He is currently working on a book that he says is the most important of all that he has written so far.
Now about the birthday party. Braca was clearly in a good mood and happy that we came to celebrate his 95th birthday this year. Instead of the song "Today is a wonderful day for us", the song "Wine song" was sung by Braca, and together with him Anđelka and Tanja. Anđelka Sučević is Braca's wife, a legendary conductor of the Vršac City Choir, and Tanja is her accompanist for many years, who is a professor of Solfeggio and director of the Music School in Vršac.
Bili su tu: Grade i Sneža, Tine i Sonja, Jelka, Milan i Cica, Vesna i Dule, komšinica Goca Milovac, horistkinja Nada, naravno i ja.
There were: Grade and Sneža, Tine and Sonja, Jelka, Milan and Cica, Vesna and Dule, neighbor Goca Milovac, chorister Nada, and of course me. This year, Evica, Saška and Nataša were not with us, they are on the beautiful Adriatic, but that's why they called to congratulate Braca on his birthday. During the birthday lunch, niece Jasna, daughter Radmila and son-in-law Dragan, granddaughter Sofija, son Srđan, prija Milka, godfather Smilja from Graz, Dejan from Prague called to congratulate from Toronto..
Braca thanked everyone, and gave us a short speech in which he said: "Let's look forward to life." That women are always beautiful. Not to be a brat, always smiling. It is important to be an optimist and never lose hope... He told how he had corona a few months ago and could not stand. Then he said to himself, okay, if you can't walk, there is a wheelchair. You should always believe in life. Live a hundred years!" Life cannot stop.
Život ne može da stane!
Life cannot stop!
