We want to share some of the future plans and get your insights of how you would order things if you were involved... but first a recap
LOOKING BACK AT THE WEEK
We spent a TON of June working on the HardFork including making support for the Testnet and developing the features that were released during the HardFork and then also doing our role as blockchain producers and upgrading servers and supporting other blockchain producers ... it put us back a bit on other PeakD development but we're now back to the new feature grind and loving it.
At launch of the HF we were one of the only interfaces (maybe the only interface) for most all the new features.
TECH IS WORKING GREAT
We haven't noticed any glitches, the nodes have been behaving themselves.
We even have great technologically minded users creating helpful proposals to add even more NODE support. We've been advising him on what would help Hive/PeakD users the most
Vote on this project: https://peakd.com/me/proposals/184
RE-CURATING A WEEK OF POSTS
A lot of people stepped in to add votes to posts that were written before the curation changes but that needed new votes to stablize and determine the curation rewards. The curation rewards were distributed decently well. We powered up some of our funding money and did some voting... we will be donating those 7 days of heightened curation rewards (1000 HIVE) to @hbdstabilizer to fund the @hive.fund.
EXCHANGES NOT SUPPORTING RECURRING TRANSFERS... YET
We are updating the site to warn anyone transferring to a known exchange site that Recurring Transfers may not work and the risk is up to them. We hope that exchanges choose to enable support on their end.
NOT MUCH USAGE FOR CONVERSIONS... YET
At the moment of writing this HBD is right there at $1.00 and has never strayed very far from $1.00 this whole week. The new high peg has worked great and now to advertise the 7% apr and build up some pressure so that it always stays almost at the point of bubbling over.
HAVE NOT TURNED ON OLD POST VOTING ... YET
Oversite and we'll turn that on soon. And we'll also upgrade some of our services to use this. We'll create a most visited post of the MONTH because now that is available.
RECURRING TRANSFER FEATURES ARE JUST BEGINNING
The features released last week are just a foundational start to enable everything that we think this feature could do. We're excited about this feature as having a Patreon-style system with decentralization is one of the holy-grails for business minded content creators. There are many many steps left in the process but this was a foundational step that enable a lot of the next ones.
WHAT SHOULD BE NEXT?
This is a list of some things we are GOING TO DO for sure... we just would love some insights into what you would like to see soon.
Tell us which ones you want to see first and why? Is this for you or because it will be awesome for people you want to onboard? etc
RANK THEM - Tell us why
BEFORE I GIVE THE LIST:
These are features we need to get out of the way before we move to the others. The UI set is actually pretty large but it impacts all the VIDEOS and HOW-TO posts we do in the future and we want all those UI changes done before we do too much new educational material.
- We're first doing a list of UI improvements to every menu (including settings), post details and community layout.
- We always have small customer requests and bugs each week and lots of small fixes and improvements which we haven't listed here.
- And there are other bigger projects we have not listed.
A. MUTE LISTS
Aka personally integrated "blacklists" ... you get to decide your own muting experience.
B. SCOTBOT REWARDS
HiveEngine integration meaning see author rewards from other 3rd party reward pools. Then maybe also sorting of content on some pages based on those rewards.
C. NEXT STEP TOWARD PATREON-LIKE SOLUTIONS.
There are many steps and the next one is really dang cool but kinda want to be a surprise. But then the one after that is probably encryption to make paywall experience an option
D. ONE CLICK CUSTODIAN ACCOUNTS FOR NEW USERS
Meaning sign up with FB login and don't have to deal with keys until they're ready to own their own account and be responsible for keys. This is for your friends and family who just want to comment on your post. They don't care about crypto or blog writing... YET!
E. DELEGATION SYSTEM
If we have enough going on we could do that other stuff and wait until RC delegation is added into Hivemind so that we don't have to do HP delegation then spend time switching to RC delegation
F. PROPOSAL PAGE UI UPGRADES
One feature is to save your vote yes AND no so that we can remember that you voted and you have a view where only new proposals come in.
G. LANGUAGE SUPPORT
Every time we do a ton of work on the site we are thankful we haven't made this feature yet so that users have to keep up with the massive amount of pages on pages on PeakD... but eventually we'll need to pull the trigger and make it open for volunteers to translate everything.
H. CUSTOM CUSTOMIZABLE FRONT ENDS
These will be in addition to the social media experience and will have custom URLs and the ability to make it the way you want... this won't replace a user's ability to go to your normal looking page but perhaps it's a place you want to direct YOUR fans to have the experience YOU think they should have.
I. MORE ANALYTICS INTEGRATION
This is one of the projects that has lots of small separate projects to implement. More analytics about your posts. More analytics for communities. Analytics that show what the most visited posts, topics, communities, collections, badges are. Perhaps help highlight who's bringing in a lot of traffic from Twitter, FB, Reddit etc.
J. AD REVENUE FOR POPULAR COMMUNITIES OR USERS
We hope to create a system to help communities integrate ads upon their request. Meaning their community gets rewarded and the community decides how to distribute that money. But also same for users who know how to get a lot of page views and visitors.
K. WELCOME PAGE / SENSE OF DIRECTION FOR NEW USERS
We want to give new users ideas of what to do... even a general task list of what is normally done. Maybe even a badge they get when they complete a check list of normal things a new user does. Then maybe extend this to intermediate users and give incentive to get those badges and show off that they're a pretty knowledgeable hive/PeakD user.
L. OTHER?
Tell us your idea... maybe it's on our list which is has dozens of other ideas... maybe it'll help move it higher on the to do list.
My top picks are...
D. ONE CLICK CUSTODIAN ACCOUNTS FOR NEW USERS
This is huge for me. I would love for my irl friends/family to be able to interact with my content rather than just visiting the links I send them and getting no interaction/feedback. I’ve been able to get some people signed up, but most of them either do not stick around, or I have had to help them re-login on many occasions.
H. CUSTOM CUSTOMIZABLE FRONT ENDS
I’m huge on making my things personalized. Whether it be my body with tattoos, my car with rims and aftermarket parts, my clothing with unique fashion items, or countless other things. I enjoy standing out and would like to have the ability to better customize my blog. This would be things such as colors, logos, or specific layouts/folders of my posts. I’m picturing high levels of customization like MySpace used to offer. A custom URL would be another added bonus. Profile song and top friends are optional.
I. MORE ANALYTICS INTEGRATION
I love knowing how much traction my work is gaining. The view count we have now is great, I would love it if those views would show lifetime instead of disappearing (or resetting, not sure what actually happens) after my post pays out. Also knowing where people are finding my posts from would be cool. Local from PeakD? Google? Facebook? Etc...
L. OTHER
Incorporate some type of leaderboards. I like what hivebuzz.me does with their ranking system. Perhaps finding a way to make that prettier and have it available inside of PeakD.
We really appreciate your feedback here's a vote and a tip... and we'll work on analyzing what you have written
That is very generous of you, many thanks. I corrected a few errors in my comment, so hopefully it’ll be even easier to analyze.
I know you all appreciate well thought out feedback. I'm happy that your team listens and executes so well. Hive is lucky to have such a dedicated application synced in with the community. I’ll support and use PeakD for years to come no doubt.
D and K are insanely important. Running @dunksocial I have come to find that users who are not already familiar with crypto really struggle with signing up. They get their keys and then they are fully lost. I have tried to create onboarding help guides and even talk to users 1 on 1 to get them signed up, but this is not scalable at all. If users have lite accounts, we will see the masses start to pile into Hive and experience the learning curve over a period of time instead of all at once. The welcome page goes hand in hand with this concept as we have to make the cryptocurrency aspects of the sites the means to an end rather than being the most pivotal part of the experience. The content should come first/be the main point that needs to be understood and the money/governance should be an added bonus learned along the way. I get that monetization and control of your account are what makes Hive the treasure that it is, but the average social media user does not yet see that, we need to ease them into it.
omg so much to look forward, you guys really are the best!
so, here are my ranks or top picks
anyways you guys really are the best and im sure whatever you pick to do first is the best decision, thank you so much for always taking into account the community opinion!
G. yes we know... and we do see that the majority of users are from non-english countries. So it's very important... however it's been an issue of timing, because it's gonna take a lot of support from translators and hoping they write things correctly. Also because we can not to support in other languages and if someone writes something wrong then that could cause problems. We also worry about an initial interest in translation but what about a year from now after 300 more changes happen? Will we still have solid amount of competent volunteers. So we have some concerns but also we want to do it. But so far we're happy we didn't do it yet because we have changed so much so often.
J. That's the idea... that this gives people an incentive to actually promote hive to the outside world. There has so far been Zero incentive.
L. Yes that's already in the plans before pretty much everything in the list... we're doing a ton of UI upgrades.
D. ONE CLICK CUSTODIAN ACCOUNTS FOR NEW USERS
Because we want our friends to be able to comment on our blog posts. This should add to the user base we currently have. Much like what happens when signing up at 3Speak. You will get the keys only if you are interested in the crypto side of things.
K. WELCOME PAGE / SENSE OF DIRECTION FOR NEW USERS
Because first impressions last. If the new user experience is crap, then there will be fewer reasons for people to stay. A welcome page will make newbies feel welcome which will help the one who invited them to explain how great HIVE is.
I. MORE ANALYTICS INTEGRATION
Being able to see how a particular blog post performed in terms of analytics will do well for us who are interested in metrics, to help grow our account. Even newbies will find it encouraging to see how well they performed. In my case, I was happy to get a few upvotes and comments for my first post. This encouraged me to post more.
:)
Now these features definitely intrigue me
D. ONE CLICK CUSTODIAN ACCOUNTS FOR NEW USERS Meaning sign up with FB login and don't have to deal with keys until they're ready to own their own account and be responsible for keys. This is for your friends and family who just want to comment on your post. They don't care about crypto or blog writing... YET! E. DELEGATION SYSTEM If we have enough going on we could do that other stuff and wait until RC delegation is added into Hivemind so that we don't have to do HP delegation then spend time switching to RC delegation Others 🤔 I really want to see a PEAKD App. It'll be much more easier for the users I feel.
Thanks for everything you do guys, Peakd is just such a brilliant part of the Hive ecosystem and we're very grateful for it.
I would vote D for sure.
Get people poking around without learning all the blockchain terms and tech first...And then let them in slowly after they get a feel for the place.
I really LOVE this vision, My favorite ones are:
C | I'm a artist and I really want to have more motivation to create and also connect with My fan base that's outside Hive, with that feature, the people that supports me could come to Hive via some marketing strategy where I can give them special music works that I could make specifically for those fans, it makes me think about a lot of ideas!
G | As the same way that I helped the spanish community in the Hispanic Hive MeetUp by translating on the live stream, I would definitively LOVE to be part of that team of translators, right now people like @victoriabsb, @eddiespino and I are working hard to translate on writing and video posts all the information that we can to help our community, so it could be really awesome.
H | Totally amazing! Anything that any owner could customize becames attractive, it improves a lot the user experience, I definitively see this as an awesome opportunity to keep building unic brands in here.
J | This is lovely, here in Hive there's a Lot of people that have an outside fan base for working with art, in my case I have 5k people on Facebook, almost 1k on Twitter, 600 on Instagram and so on, it could be a really amazing feature that we could earn rewards from some traffic activity from all those sources within web 2.0, that will motivates us a lot to work hard in the marketing of our own projects, that's how you open the door in the right way!
And then MVF (Most Valuable Feature) of all these is the D, I mean, come on! Of course that we'll love that people just create a profile to interact and comment, then they'll see that also they could win rewards for doing it and that will inspire them to keep supporting, family, Friends, fans, that's a huge number of awesome possibilities.
Thanks You so much for all the work that you're doing for everyone on Hive, you're totally awesome!!!
Thank you for your HardWork.
H - I - J - K
These are, in my opinion, powerful initiatives
You guys keep on rocking. Here's my thoughts on what would help out the most:
E. I run giftgiver.site (free hp delegations for low RC users) and know its a major problem when new users can't interact. Before anything that can lead to a lot of users, this should be implemented so they are able to interact, but they should also be given instructions on how to buy and power up hive themselves.
K. Hive is confusing. Guidance should help people learn where to go.
A. I use hive.blog for one feature and thats blacklist support. Would love to have it on peakd.
D. Once we have systems to help new users out, then focusing on making it easy for them to sign up and get going should be the way.
Keep on being awesome.
A. Yeah we haven't had a ton of push in that direction so it keeps getting pushed back. But say some things and maybe it gets moved up the list.
E. Maybe @asgarth can ask questions if he has any when we develop our delegation system for low RC users.
K. Agreed
D. It's probably true that we should do delegations and new user helps before we worry about getting tons of more users.
leaderbords, more analytics, view counter for traffic viewed on peakd.
the roadmap looks great Jarvie, looking forward to more updates on the plans, I am especially excited about the translations into other languages, I think it would be a very helpful implementation for those who do not speak English.
Thanks for everything you do guys, Peakd is just such a brilliant part of the Hive ecosystem and we're very grateful for it. I would vote D for sure. Get people poking around without learning all the blockchain terms and tech first And then let them in slowly after they get a feel for the place.
Awesome and exciting to see where you are going with all of this. Here are my top picks:
B.
SCOTBOTSMT REWARDSAs you know, Hive Engine recently released the Smart Media Tokens smart contract which replaces Scotbot and is decentralized. I think seeing the ability to earn multiple tokens by posting or curating on Hive will really intrigue many people. Probably many currently don't realize there is such an ability because of the complexity of the system, and PeakD as a frontend can really help people wrap their minds around the existence of multiple communities with their own reward pools.
C. NEXT STEP TOWARD PATREON-LIKE SOLUTIONS.
Really interested to see what ideas you have here. The use case is already established. We seem to have a stablecoin (hopefully it will keep $1 during a bear market). If we make it easy for content creators and their fans to use it, then the advantages of this system for them over the centralized systems are tremendous. No reason not to join.
D. ONE CLICK CUSTODIAN ACCOUNTS FOR NEW USERS
Might be done before the above so as to make the account creation easy for people.
J. AD REVENUE FOR POPULAR COMMUNITIES OR USERS
A new way to earn which doesn't involve inflation? Sounds like a solid win for communities. I think @imwatsi has been working on a protocol for this (Hive Attention Token) so his work may be of interest to you as well.
My own ideas:
Proposal pages for communities: Hive Engine recently launched the Decentralized Token Fund contract, enabling the stakers of each token to create and vote on their own community proposals. Would be cool to enable communities to do this kind of governance right from PeakD. After all, a person can be a member of multiple communities and he/she will probably want to participate in their governance.
Liquidity pools & NFTs for communities: Hive Engine is supposed to enable liquidity pool rewards soon. Won't it be cool to let community members participate in DeFi for their community? And what about community NFTs? I don't know if PeakD will want to create such pages but if the interface at least lets people know these abilities exist, it would probably help. Otherwise it creates fragmentation (various functionalities scattered all over the place). And PeakD creates integration.
B. We would much much much more like to integrate H-E SMT contracts have many communities/tribes switched to that?
C. That's what we're hoping
D. Agreed
J. It would be great to have a decentralized option that all interfaces adopted. However there is a huge incentive to work with ad networks that have done the work to make relationships with many many advertisers.
NEW IDEA 1
I want to see tons more features for communities as well first step are some new UI upgrades for communities.
NEW IDEA 2
The main issue for liquidity pools is that swap tokens are custodial and they have not made a lot of users feel confident in their security protocols for those tokens yet.
As you referenced diesel-pools still don't have an economic benefit to liquidity provider to add to them after 5+ months. They tend to build new things without ever polishing up what they already created and that worries me about integrating... we can integrate something but they won't push their own product and they'll just move to a new product.
Cool.
I know of one community so far that uses the SMT contract for their token, it was a recently launched one. I guess new communities will probably launch with SMT tokens instead of Scotbot. Will existing communities switch? I guess a question for them to answer.
So what if we ONLY supported the H-E SMT tokens?
Well, first of all, is it two very different APIs or more or less the same? I don't know the answer, maybe both can be supported with the same effort, or maybe the APIs are very different.
If the latter, then why would you support a centralized service like Scotbot? Is this going to contribute to Hive? It might, at this stage of development. Is it in alignment with your vision? These questions can be one way of determining whether to support both or just SMTs. For me, I'd rather see you guys spend your time on building and supporting the future we want, not obsolete centralized services.
I agree with that sentiment... however we should dig into the reality of what those tokens are doing... if there's no one using the smt then it may not be too useful
Maybe the answer is make smt support free on peakd and some other incentives
Seems like Hive Engine have shipped rewards for liquidity pools. You might be interested in this conversation: https://peakd.com/hive-173575/@borislavzlatanov/re-anadolu-qvziql
Hi @peakd, great day! Letter C would be a very great add-on!
One-click accounts would be great. If people can at least comment they can get to know the platform a little and then may get into it.
The welcome page thing is important too. New users won't know what things they should be doing. I like the idea of help 'bubbles' popping up when you start out. There will be features they do not even think of. Of course there should be the option to dismiss them as we do not want 'annoying Clippy' to bug people. Maybe get the community to make some tutorial articles and videos that are easily discoverable. We have people with those talents.
There's always improvements to be made. Consolidating notifications would be good. I don't need four if someone votes, comments, mentions and shares a post or several if they edit a comment.
Keep up the good work.
We are leaning towards a checklist... then maybe a badge to indicate you've completed. Then maybe an intermediate list as well.
People like badges. Getting a set for specific achievements would be good. Of course we have @hivebuzz doing this already, but guidance on what to try next would help.
Badges are based on a decentralized list of users that any platform can use and on PeakD they have tons more utility by have a page, a user list and a feed of posts from the badge holders. Also they don't spam and people can follow badges if they want. They're also searchable.
These are by far the most important pieces to work on next in my opinion and ones that we have been crying out for with years. Please make the whole experience easier for people to jump into the system without the need for a blockchain degree to write a post. Also the ability to monetize a blog or community through ads is huge incentive for people to expand outside of the eco-system and bring more people in.
If my page views are directly related to earnings then it is a great reason to share to new places and get eyes on the content. Especially for more established content creators. Then with quick sign ins we can have external people read and comment. hopefully even join a fun community and grow it naturally.
These three steps would be massive for growing hive and it's community. Please make it happen for us.
L.
I'd love to see another feed, posts from new users. Finding content from new users should be instantaneous and intuitive. Learning curve is steep and we need to give as much support as possible to newcomers.
Also D. and K. are the most important IMO since growth and retention suffer in current environment.
How did i miss this?
