Ok so it's a pretty crap day today, wife has just come down with COVID and after almost 3 years of dodging this crappy virus it has finally hit home. Fortunately COVID is on it's way out and these strains are getting weaker. But she's still quite unwell and semi bed bound mainly just chilling in the main bedroom keeping socially distant.
Probably not a bad idea considering we have a 5 year old and 1 year old but oh man what a time to get sick. It's also my wifes birthday tomorrow or more so today. So there goes that booking and all the events that I had lined up 🤣.
Anyway, knowing that I most likely will end up with COVID also and put things in a whole new level of pain not being able to get things done. So the nore I can outsource to others the better.
One of those things that needs outsourcing while you're sick (or really whenever) is cleaning! Especially when you have 2 kids under 5 running around the house constantly making mess. So I popped down to the supermarket and picked up one of these bad boys on afterpay.
This is only a cheap Robot but it still does the trick. The self charging robot uses GPS and a heap of other sensors to map your house and then vacuum or mop your floor depending on what setting you want.
I gave it a spin tonight and it is absolutely amazing pulling up dog hair that I had no idea was there. It isn't the most perfect thing but given it is just a cheap base model as I didn't want to spend too much before trialing one it was great.
Go easy on me I'm in a rental while my house is built but the level of clean the carpet has come up is really good and it even navigates around furniture, under the computer desks and makes sure it gets all the nooks and crannies.
It even does a fantastic job on tiles which I haven't tried the mop function out as yet but plan on in the coming days. But tonight I cooked chicken and veggie soup and had some bread I cut up and buttered. The kids put bread crumbs all over the floor in the kitchen and the robot cleaned it all up!
My floors weren't that dirty as I clean often but I still managed to pick up two canisters of dust, dog hair and rubbish on the floor all while watching the Robot do its thing.
Even Bella was intrigued by it and watching it now at night while Bella just lays there on the floor having it bump into her and go around is pretty funny.
It's pretty amazing how far technology has come and I can't help think about past eras where things like this weren't an option for people and they would have to hire outside help or just let things get messy.
Given we're in the middle of a pandemic outside help isn't something I could a) afford or b) even consider due to having COVID this makes our house a no go to zone.
But we got lucky as the rules changes yesterday, household contacts who are negative do not have to isolate so I get to go about my daily life while the wife stays away in the ensuite for 7 days quarantine.
Although I don't know who got the crap end of the stick there me or her as I'm out here with 2 kids under 5 and I'm already exhausted alone with them.

These little critters cleaning up helps I’m sure! I wish it didn’t come with the whole GPS stuff myself but maybe one day I’ll get the little robot we made ourselves to clean lol (our son lol)
Hahaha that would be great but they're more likely to make a mess than clean it up! They start off helpful than at 5 lose interest lol.
