Having argued for a long time that the Government's relentless propaganda claim that "1 in 3 people who have Covid-19 have no symptoms" is a scam, I was amazed to come across this BBC article (published last month). Quoting Public Health England it says:
about 85% of people with Covid have at least one symptom
i.e. 15% (about 1 in 7) have no symptoms.
In our article we pointed out that the "1 in 3 claim" might be true if "have Covid-19" was replaced with "test positive with a PCR test".
Most positive PCR tests for people who are asymptomatic are false positives; that's why most people who test positive when asymptomatic do not go on to develop any symptoms. They don't have the disease.
Much of the confusion (which I believe is deliberate) is due to the fact that people do not realise there is a difference between the virus SARS-Cov2 and the disease Covid-19 that we are told it causes. And, consequently, there is also confusion between asymptomatic (those with the virus who don't develop symptoms) and pre-symptomatic (those who get the disease, but are still in the incubation period). The latter will be pre-symptomatic for a short period before getting symptoms for a much longer period. So, assuming it can be up to about 7 times longer with symptoms then, in this sense, it is probably correct that about 1 in 7 people with the disease Covid-19 will be pre-symptomatic (and potentially infectious).
