May your coffee be strong, and your day be beautiful! Good day, Hives! It's me again, Ace26, your Gwapo (handsome) blogger from the Philippines.
Yap San Diego Anchestral House - The 350-year-old Anchestral House
full of memories and that's why they resist to collapse!-Mehmet Murat Ildan
My last blog was about the Heritage of Cebu monument. Since we were done exploring the monument, we decided to visit Yap San Diego, where a few steps away from the monument.
In the meantime, we were outside the Yap San Diego Ancestral House, and we saw a group of people taking pictures in the window of the house, assisted by personnel of Yap San Diego.
So we just took a picture beside the Yap San Diego Ancestral house so we would not disturb the guests and so they would have time to get quality pictures.
Little did I know, I was watching the plant in the big jar and the plants hanging by the window. It also gave the house more vibrant to balance the cinematic view of the ancestral house.
I was just thinking about what materials they used in this house; for 350 years, the house still stands, and for the longest time, the house never collapsed; the house is still the same as it was in the past. Maybe I could ask the owner for their secret on how to make this 350-year house 😆.
History of Yap San Diego Ancestral House
Yap San Diego Anchestral House
It was built sometime in 1675 to 1700. Originally owned by a family of Chinese merchants, Don Juan Yap and Doña Maria Florido, with their three children — Maria, Eleuterio, and Consolacion. During the 1880’s, Maria Florida Yap, the eldest daughter, married Don Mariano Sandiego who was at that time the Cabeza de Barangay of Parian.
Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is among the country's oldest residential homes, built around 1680 from wood and coral stone, its design combines Spanish and Chinese architectural influences. Inside there's a mass of antiquities, fine furniture, religious art and curios to browse.
What's Inside
Upon entering the Yap San Diego Anchestral house the first thing you will saw was the ornaments that hanging on the ceiling and different old stuff.
They also have a different miniature statues of Mama Mary and different portraits. I didn't have time to ask the personnel who are the people in those pictures since they had many guests at that time.
The Yap San Diego Ancestral House also preserved different house furniture And things Like the table, plates, glasses, spoons, And forks. It was nice that it was not just the house that they preserved, even the things inside.
But the one that got my attention was the bedroom. I loved how they used banig ( mat made of abaca ) as a ceiling and the wood that they used on the bedframe.
Unfortunately, We didn't explore the whole place since my wife got goosebumps, and we couldn't get nice photos since there were plenty of guests at that time, but the place had a lot to offer.
**Best time to Visit **
Yap San Diego Anchestral House is open from 8 am to 7 pm daily, but I recommend visiting Yap San Diego Anchestral House at lunchtime so that you can explore the place with fewer guests and you can enjoy taking pictures.
Exact Location
The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is located at 155 Lopez Jaena corner Mabini Street, Parian, Cebu City.
You can also buy some souvenirs outside the Yap San Diego Ancestral house.

You are very welcome @ace26👍🐝
That's very good Sir @ace26 that the family is preserving the ancestral house and open it to the public. I admired the design of the house.
I admire the owner of the house because I was able to show my kids the house before.
