The sun kissed my skin,the salty air filled my lungs, and the sound of gentle waves lapping against the shore was music to my ears.This wasn't just any beach trip this was a Matangbukal beach in Lian,Batangas City adventure is generously organized by our amazing employer Ate Azon!And the best part? It was all free!From the entrance fee to the coveted floating cottage Ate Azon took care of everything making this a truly unforgettable experience.So,pack your bags (and your appetite!) because I'm about to take you on a virtual tour of our blissful day at Matangbukal, sharing all the sandy details and why it's the perfect spot for a family outing.
Our adventure began early Saturday morning.filled with the excited chatter of friends and their families.Our road journey from Quezon City to Lian in Batangas took some time but afforded us beautiful views throughout.The big and bold Matabungkay Beach signage marks your approach to the actual destination and lets you know you are on the right path and you know you are close when you see the iconic Matabungkay Beach signage a big,bold welcome that assures you you're on the right track. No chance of getting lost here!
Upon arrival, we paid the minimal entrance fee of ₱25.Honestly,it is a lesser price to pay for the upkeep of the beach and the assurance of safety. It is comforting to know that someone is looking after the area and ensuring everyone has a pleasant and secure experience.
Our gracious friend, Ate Azon, treated us to a fantastic experience by renting a floating house for the day.Now.I have to confess I did not dare ask about the rental cost.You know that feeling when you are afraid to ask the price because you are worried it'll magically double and you'll suddenly be expected to pay for everyone?Yeah,that was me.But honestly,the floating house was worth every peso.
We enjoyed our trip the most because we packed homemade food and drinks from our home. The personal food and beverages we brought allowed us to save money along with giving our beach meal an unforgettable personal touch. You can never beat the experience of eating tasty food with your friends when the ocean creates a spectacular backdrop.
The floating house was perfect for our group. It provided shade a place to relax, and a jumping-off point for our aquatic adventures.And most importantly it felt safe even for the kids in our group.The water around the floating house was shallow enough for them to stand, and we made sure they wore their life vests for extra safety.
Speaking of safety,if you happen to forget your life vest, no worries because the local vendors are well-equipped with everything you might need from souvenirs to snacks and yes, even life vests.They've got you covered!
Matabungkay serves as a beautiful treasure for anyone who loves observing marine life. Wearing basic goggles allows you to observe a remarkable underwater ecosystem with its diverse array of colorful fish and interesting marine animals.
You can easily observe a miniature aquarium right before your eyes even with basic goggles.The kids (and the adults,let's be honest) were absolutely mesmerized by the underwater spectacle.
Reminders
🌀Plan your trip in advance especially if you are going during peak season,it is a good idea to book your floating house (or other accommodations) ahead of time.
🌀Bring your own food and drinks to save money and enjoy picnic on the beach.
🌀 Don't forget your sunscreen because the sun can be intense, especially during the summer months.Protect your skin.
🌀 Pack light,you don't need to bring your closet to the beach. Just bring the essentials like swimwear,towels,sunscreen and a change of clothes.
🌀 Of course respect the environment so keep the beach clean and dispose of your trash properly.
🌀 And be mindful of your belongings While the area is safe it is also a good idea to be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your valuables.

Our Matabungkay adventure delivered more than beach experiences since it provided relief from city life so we could form connections with nature as we strengthened friendships through rest from our everyday responsibilities. The exceptional journey had left me with joy as I returned exhausted to Quezon City.Matabungkay,you are captured our hearts!You have magic that drew us here once and we will return again.
