Enjoying the Beach Atmosphere in Banda Aceh and the Legendary Mushroom Noodles

Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh Province, is famous for its beautiful beaches. After Friday prayer, I decided to take my children, Fatih and Arkana, to Ulee Lheue Beach to see the fishing boats that were anchored on the shore. This beach is located in an area that is very famous because it was destroyed by the tsunami waves on December 26, 2004. Nevertheless, the beach is still one of the favorite places for locals to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.

Upon arriving at Ulee Lheue Beach, we saw many fishing boats that were anchored on the shore. My children were very enthusiastic about seeing the big and small fishing boats. They really wanted to try to climb onto the boat and feel the sensation of being on the sea. It was not difficult to find a fisherman who was willing to let my children ride on their boat.

Fatih and Arkana really enjoyed the experience. They ran around on the boat while looking at the beautiful scenery of the sea. My children also tried to mimic the fishermen by holding a fishing net and trying to catch fish. They also learned how fishermen catch fish with a fishing net.

After playing, we suddenly felt hungry. Luckily, not far from the location where the fishing boats were anchored, there was a small restaurant that provided various dishes. For example, the restaurant on the beach provided Tom Yam Seafood, Tom Yan Tuna, Grilled Fish, and Aceh Noodles.

We decided to try the legendary dish at the restaurant, which was Mushroom Noodles. This typical Acehnese cuisine is very famous among food lovers because of its unique taste and aroma. In fact, mushroom noodles have become the culinary icon of Banda Aceh city.

Mushroom Noodles use a lot of spices in its making, which gives a rich and complex taste to this dish. The spices used include candlenut, red chili, garlic, ginger, and other spices. All of these spices are mashed and mixed with boiled mushrooms, then served with chewy yellow noodles and a savory broth.

After ordering several plates of mushroom noodles, we patiently waited. When the mushroom noodles arrived, the fragrant aroma of the spices immediately wafted in the air. My children, Fatih and Arkana, quickly tasted the mushroom noodles with enthusiasm. They looked happy with the delicious taste of the mushroom noodles and its unique aroma.
