Sundays Are Great Cuz of The Ice Cream, Not Flowers ;)

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)

We had a break from the rain today. It's been almost a week since the skies have poured nothing but raindrops upon us almost single day. I'm not a fan of it, I actually hate rain. It's mental I guess, but there's nothing I can do about it...

It's the beginning of September, though, and we are no longer blessed with the sun we had just a couple of weeks ago, thus no more pool time for me, but we can't call it proper autumn time either.

Today's Sunday and Sundays have to be fun days. My fun for today was mostly about food. I'm kind of living on a diet for a while, thus I no longer eat what I please that often anymore.

I had to entertain my senses this afternoon and what better way to do that than with some traditional Serbian cousine. I'm blessed to be living quite close to the Serbian border and we've always visited our neighbors for the great food they have over there.

It's way tastier than hours imo and the services are top notch. My favorite one is pleskavica, which is a sort of a Serbian burger and I was already salivating by the time we hit the restaurant just by thinking of it.

It took quite a while until we got the menus and the food on the table, but man it was so delicious.

I had some fish soup as well which was simply perfect, but dumb me forgot to snap any pic of it... Maybe next time.

What you see in the pic above is the pleskavica I'm talking about. It can be served as you see it in the pic, or in the classical burger form. I don't like eating too much bread, thus I've gone for this option.

However, we did get some pita, hope the translation is right for the so-called bread I'm referring to, and it reminded me of my childhood years vacations spent at the grandma's house. This type of bread was so simple and so well made. I could basically eat a ton of it with just cheese and some tomatoes, but I had pleskavica to deal with.

Oh, and we had soem unexpected company too... A couple of cute dogs started patrulating between tables at some point asking for some food bribes and we fell for their charm. I sure know I shared with them probably a quarter of the meat I had on the table.

You can't be indiferent in front of such eyes, can you?...

After we ate at the restaurant we got to the best ice cream market in town. I could probably eat a ton of this thing as well, but I know it's full of sugars and sugar is not healthy.

BUT, today was my cheat meal day, though, so we can close our eyes for this chunkcy one.

Oh, did I mention that this downtown has its decent share of dogs? It's obvious since most of the good restaurants Kladovo has are located over there.

These dogs are not stupid, for sure, they know they're gonna get fed if they patrol in that area and that's what happens every day, especially during summer.

Kladovo is close to us and that means a lot of tourists that come to our area are opting for eating over there as well. Yeah, the food in Serbia is that good.

Every good thing comes to an end and it was time to "get a walk", jump in the car and head back home. It's nice leaving the town, and the country at the same time once in a while.

Although it's just about 30 kilometers between my place and Kladovo, it really feels like being in a whole different world when going there. It's such a long time since I had a @pinmapple post, hope you guys like it and see you in my next post.
