Greetings!
Once in a while, we like to see something new. If we are bored in seeing the same almost every day then seeing something new is very much welcome. Like in my case, I always see the green landscape of our rice farm (which is no doubt very beautiful), but seeing it every day turns it into ordinary scenery for me.
My beloved province of Nueva Ecija in the Philippines is becoming a hot tourist attraction. Thanks to its beautiful landscapes and mountains developers are tapping these features into a tourist destination.
And one of the tourist destinations that is becoming popular is the one the owner named "Overview". It is located in the mountainous barangay Tanawan of the Town of Laur. The owner called it Overview because once you are on the hilltop of the place you can have 360 views of the place all around it.
I suspect that it became famous because of its scenic view of the surrounding town and the cities of Cabanatuan and Palayan.
Once the night comes the view will be more beautiful because the city lights of the city of Cabanatuan can be clearly seen from the Overview. Also, witnessing the sunset at Overview is one of a kind experience.
I Love Overview
Arriving at the place we look for places that we can take some pictures of for remembrance (just like we always do whenever we visit a place).
While at the hilltop I noticed that the wind is kind of cool for people like us living in a tropical country. I have been to places in my country where the temperature is cool and I can say that during our visit to Overview the temperature is between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius. I cool temperature is a very much welcome experience for us.
"I love Overview" group photo
At the hilltop we found the "I Love Overview" signage, we took some group photos, we rest for a little time while experiencing the cool air and looking at the 360 view the place has to offer.
While we are enjoying the view and the cool wind we talked about the places that we already visited in the barangay of Tanawan which are "El Pobre Tanawan" and "Sunset Peak". All are located in the mountainous barangay of Tanawan.

While we are still talking about the place that we visited (in Tanawan)we unanimously came to the conclusion that the barangay of Tanawan is a very lucky place because of its scenic view of its surrounding town including a view of the largest city in the province of Nueva Ecija. The scenic beauty has become the driving force behind why developers have their eyes on Tanawan.
Even in this time of pandemic places like this is very popular tourist attraction.
Fence group photo
As we continue exploring the place I noticed that there is some section in Overview where there are no fences. I hope that they put some fences on the sections for the safety of all the visitors.
There are also sections of the place where there are fences which we took some group photos. While we are taking some photos we already forgot one of the reasons we came to the place a little earlier, to witness the sunset. We forgot because we are very much occupied with the beauty of the place.
My nieces and my son
The fence where we took some photos is located between the two hilltops of the place. We took some photos (this time I am with the group). And my wife also asked me to take some of her together with our son.
After taking some photos, we stayed for a while, enjoyed the view, then climbed one of the two hilltops of Overview.
My wife and my son
Of the two hilltops of Overview the south hilltop is the one full of photography sites while the north hilltop is equally beautiful we elected to go to the south hilltop because visitors are cramming up the north hilltop (we still fear COVID).
Going up to the south hilltop is nice because of its scenic stairs as can be seen in the photo below. These are the kind of views that I have always loved to see.
Stairs going up at south hilltop
The south hilltop is quite a head-turner, it is the one that I immediately noticed while I am getting out of our vehicle. At the top, you can immediately see some of the sections for photo ops (as can be seen in the photo below).
And just like I said earlier the north hilltop is equally beautiful. We just don't get to take some photos on the north hilltop because of fear of COVID.
South hilltop view
I mentioned that the south hilltop is a head-turner earlier, the north hilltop features one of the most beautiful pieces of structure that the Philippines is known for, the Bahat Kubo (as can be seen in the photo below).
The north hilltop is also an attention grabber because of its scenic view and clean surrounding (the south hilltop is very clean too).
North hilltop view
Going up the north hilltop also gives a scenic view to the one walking up the hilltop as can be seen in the photo below. The view is quite refreshing and beautiful considering one can only see a fence, a Bahay Kubo, and some pads of cement acting as staircases.
North hilltop view
Since we did not last for a minute at the north hilltop we immediately walked down straight up to the south hilltop which offers the most scenic staircases of the entire Overview. Look at the photo below, isn't it beautiful?
South hilltop view
While walking up, I took a photo of the top view of the south hilltop (photo below).
A closer view of the south hilltop
At the south hilltop, there are many locations where visitors can take photos. Like the heart-shaped platform where I and my wife have some photos of. There is also a bamboo chair with a cogon grass roof, some hammocks for kids to play on, a wishing lock, a circular bamboo, a bamboo platform with stairs, and angel wings (all photos can be seen below).
I also tried to take a selfie of me while the sun is setting but is still high enough to call it a sunset.
At the end of this blog, I provided a short video of us while we are walking towards the south hilltop.
