If you are on the hunt for a fun, unique spot for your next date night, look no further than Kota Joe Roadhouse in Boksburg. We stumbled upon Kota Joe through a friends recommendation during one of their milkshake sales - buy one, get one free! (Of course everyone drank 2 milkshakes lol) This was the perfect opportunity to celebrate a special friends 21st birthday.

My husband and I got there a bit earlier than the milkshake party to enjoy a small date night together and it was the best decision.

Although roadhouses are known for their casual vibe where you park your car and enjoy your meal from the comfort of your own vehicle, we decided to sit inside this time. The atmosphere inside the roadhouse had almost an industrial flair with quite a few modern touches - think sleek black finishes but the sauces came in a bucket. It was contemporary yet at the same time super cosy.

*Screw the diet*

Oh we definitely threw the diet very far out the window. How cool, their sandwiches or should I say "Kotas" were served in these to-go paper bags, very unique packaging and display. After spending an embarrassing amount of time trying to decide what to eat we finally asked the waitress what she would suggest and she told us that they are known for their Kotas and so we each got one, I got the Shwarma and husband the Dagwood. If you end up here... try their Kotas!!

One of my favourite places was their outdoor patio area where we moved to when the party arrived. The raw exposed light bulbs strung up over the car park created such a fun vibe, it seriously brought the place to life and now I want the same thing in our garden!

We had the perfect seat on the outside verandah and had the best time watching the sun go down while enjoying our milkshakes. I have always been a "sunset" lover and there is truly something so magical about being able to see the sky change colour. I love it!

I had the most fun photographing the sky as the sun began painting the world with vibrant blues and oranges, especially with the added aspect of those strung up bulbs, such a gorgeous view.

So date night or birthday party, this is the place to be. Good vibes, fun atmosphere, good food and too many milkshake options to choose from that you have no choice but to try two! Even if you want to head through on your own, hide away in your car and watch the big screen tv as you enjoy a mini car picnic!

I now also want to try every Kota Joe Roadhouse in every location I can find them! Maybe I should make it a series!
