Hello everybody :)
It was in this small village by the sea that we found a peaceful refuge for a short stay full of charms and adventures. Comporta is known for its natural beauty and charm, the perfect destination for memorable family moments.
We stayed in a picturesque house right in the center of the village overlooking rice fields surrounded by undulating and extensive dunes.
Over the days, the scenery around us was marked by the magnificent color palette of the sky and the lush green of the rice paddies.
Despite the misfortune of the vehicle having broken down, this mishap turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as initially we had scheduled some visits to other places nearby, but due to this event and not wanting to waste too much time trying to deal with that matter, we simply forgot the car and we embark on walking journeys through the village to discover hidden treasures that, otherwise, might have gone unnoticed. On foot, it is always possible to appreciate every detail of the landscape, inhale the fresh fragrance of the sea and feel the touch of the gentle breeze.
The short distance to the beach was a joy for the youngest member of the family. The sound of the waves kissing the shore invited moments of relaxation by the sea, the soft sand between the toes, the laughter and the dancing seagulls in the sky made for a picturesque and enchanting scene.
In the heart of the village was the picturesque centre, where local life flourished. Small craft shops, cozy cafes and traditional food restaurants offered authentic experiences. We enjoy local delicacies, such as delicious monkfish rice and fresh clams.
When exploring the surroundings, we come across natural and historical wonders, the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve captivated us with its abundant biodiversity, where flamingos, storks and other migratory birds dazzled with their graceful flight, walks through the local salt flats revealed the secrets of salt production, an ancient and important activity for the region.
However, the excellent weather conditions during the day did not extend to the nights as the drop in the water level in the estuary allowed the gathering of mosquitoes that disturbed the moments outdoors after sunset, however, this did not shake our spirit, which we tried to solve with the application of repellent and suitable clothing.
As the night wore on, the village displayed a different but no less enchanting scene. The yellowish lights from the street lamps reflected in the calm waters of the estuary, creating a romantic and serene atmosphere. The sounds of the nocturnal nature gained prominence, filling the atmosphere with a unique symphony only interrupted by one or another more excited tourist.
The awakening was an invitation to explore the huge fields of rice fields that surrounded the village, the soft murmur of the wind between the rice leaves created a natural symphony while we walked along narrow trails, observing the stages of rice cultivation and appreciating the beauty simple and authentic of the region.
It is an unforgettable experience crossing the rice paddies to reach the dunes that hide the stunning scenery of the open ocean and the vastness of the surrounding landscapes. The immensity of the blue sea merged with the distant horizon, and the golden sun that slowly descended made the moment truly magical.
Throughout our stay, we embrace the simplicity and natural beauty of Comporta, and with the breakdown of the vehicle, we discovered that the chosen destination had much more to offer than what had been initially planned. The walks and proximity to nature brought special moments and deeper connections.
Thus, the small village of Comporta, with its idyllic scenery of rice fields, lush river and stunning beaches, will remain in the memory as a unique and captivating trip, an escape that led us to appreciate the simplicity of life, the beauty of nature and the importance of time spent with those we love most.

Always remember:
Value your time, because every fraction counts, and the price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it.
