Hello everyone :)
Today we are going to take a tour of Óbidos, this Portuguese village full of history and symbolism, located in the western region of Portugal. Its origins date back to the pre-Roman period, and over the years it was occupied by several civilizations, including the Romans, Visigoths and Moors. Later, in the year 1148, it was reconquered by Christians during the reign of D. Afonso Henriques.
Only then would it have been possible what happened in 1210, when D. Dinis offered this pearl as a wedding gift to D. Isabel, starting the tradition of the town being included in the dowry of Portuguese queens. This fact earned it the title of "Village of Queens".

Today, the testimony of its past is based on the medieval walls that continue to protect the village and the Castle that has been transformed into a historic Inn.
Over the centuries, Óbidos was also an important strategic and commercial point, keeping its medieval urban layout practically intact to this day.
Óbidos is one of those places that looks like something out of a picture postcard. I spent a weekend there and, even without typical festivities taking place, the village was packed with tourists, both foreign and domestic.

It's not hard to see why, every corner has a unique charm, with narrow cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses with colorful details, and flowers that bring life to the balconies.
After having lunch at a typical tavern, where I enjoyed local delicacies accompanied by some delicious gingas served in chocolate cups, I felt the need to take a break to catch my breath and calm my stomach. I found a higher corner of the village, perfect for resting and enjoying the view. That's where I decided to launch my drone. And what an incredible experience that moment turned out to be.

From above, Óbidos gains another perspective. The red clay roofs form a mosaic that contrasts with the white walls, while the alleys wind like living veins between the houses. I flew over the roofs of the rural houses, which caused some curiosity among the visitors who were walking below. Some stopped, looked up, waved or pointed. The unexpected interaction brought a touch of humor to the moment.

One of the images I enjoyed capturing the most was the framing of the medieval walls surrounding the village as if protecting it from the weather. Another was the view of the main church with the tower standing out, surrounded by houses. The soft light of the late afternoon, with the sun already wanting to hide over the scene, made everything even more magical.
Óbidos has this effect, it enchants from any angle, whether on foot through its narrow streets or through the aerial view of a drone. It is impossible to leave there without the feeling of having been in a unique place.

That´s all for today, Hope you like it :)
