Hello friends,
First of all, I’d like to wish you a happy Sunday! In this post, I wanted to share that during the Christmas season, I had the opportunity to visit only one Christmas market. Unfortunately, I’ve been quite busy with my studies and furnishing my new home, so I could only visit this one market. However, I can already tell you that it was a beautiful and very interesting experience. I had heard about it many times before but had never had the chance to visit it.
I’m talking about the Asburgico Christmas Market in Levico Terme, an event that takes place every year in the Secular Park of the Habsburgs.
For those who don’t know, Levico Terme is located in Trentino-Alto Adige, about 22 km from Trento, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. It is quite famous for its beautiful lake, which is very large, and during my visit to the market, I had the chance to see it in person.
Back to the market—it was amazing because as soon as I arrived, it felt like stepping into another world, like being in a fairytale. It’s a pity it was daytime when I visited, as I imagine it would be even more beautiful at night with the soft lighting.
I admired many handmade decorations by local artisans, and there were plenty of traditional items. But what caught my attention the most were the food stands, offering typical dishes. Above all, the scent of mulled wine filled the air—a drink that is a staple at any Christmas market.
I have to say it was a wonderful experience, also because I discovered many historical buildings in this town, which was once part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You can still see the empire’s influence in the architecture and even in the food. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos because I was so hungry and got a bit carried away!
I’ll definitely take the chance to return—maybe in the summer or during a better season—to explore more of the area and perhaps enjoy more of the delicious specialties they prepare so well here.
I hope you found my story a little interesting! I’m not the best with words, but I try to do my best. See you soon, everyone!
