Hi everyone!!
It is with great pleasure, and a lot of excitement, that today I want to share my first post in this community. I'm sure I'll make some mistakes, but I know many of you will help me improve along the way.
I'm a super passionate traveler, and I find this community very interesting because it gives me the chance to find new ideas for new trips. Today, however, I want to share some interesting information about my homeland: Sicily!
I want to talk about and share some photos of Aspra. I was there a few months ago because my father was born nearby. Aspra is a hamlet in the municipality of Bagheria, a place many of you likely know because it's much more famous as a tourist destination.
As you can see from the photos I've shared, Aspra is a small, charming fishing village on the northeastern coast of Sicily. I've been visiting this place since I was a child because I still have relatives living here, but I've also seen it grow as a tourist destination. It's a place to escape the hectic pace of daily life because you know that Sicily can offer beautiful places and can also combine that with great cuisine and fantastic food products.
For me, the best spot in Aspra is undoubtedly the promenade. I think for us Sicilians, having constant contact with the sea is very important. Honestly, and I'm being truthful, I couldn't live without the sea.
The typical dish from this place, which I recommend you try if you're ever in the area, is stuffed sardines with breadcrumbs, raisins, and pine nuts. Another popular dish here is pesto alla trapanese. However, these dishes are quite common throughout Sicily.
Another attraction that's been here for quite some time is the Ferris wheel, which has become trendy in many tourist locations. It arrived in Aspra a while ago. Every time I visit, I always take a ride to see the view from above. In fact, some of these photos were taken from the top of the Ferris wheel.
Unfortunately, the last time I was here, it wasn't very warm, and the temperature wasn't ideal for swimming. But I will definitely have the chance to return this summer and take a dip in this splendid sea.
Here's a tourist tip that might be useful if you want to reach this tourist spot:
📍If you're coming from Palermo, you can take a train from Palermo's central station to Aspra. It's the easiest and fastest way to get there, and the train ride takes about 30 minutes. The Aspra station is right in the town center, so you just need to take a few steps, and you're already there.
📍If you're coming from either Palermo or Messina, you can take the A19 highway, exit at Bagheria, and then drive a few more kilometers to get to Aspra. The only thing to keep in mind is that during the summer, there's a limited traffic zone (ZTL) that prevents cars from entering the historic center, so you'll have to park much further away.
These are the two main options for reaching this magnificent fishing village!
I hope my information has been helpful, but feel free to ask me for more details, and I'll be happy to assist. See you next time! Bye, everyone!
