Hi everyone, how are you?
This weekend I really did something crazy. I've always been a bit unconventional since I was a child, but this time, in just one day, I went back to Sicily. This was thanks to finding a great low-cost flight from Bologna, and in about an hour, I was back in Sicily.
For me, being born on this beautiful island, it's always so difficult to stay away from this place, which is mainly made up of sea and sun. But actually, I did this because I wanted to have my first official swim of the season.
I have to say, it was quite difficult to find this ticket for about €20, but if you think about it, considering it's still an airplane journey, it's quite a saving. So, I got in touch with some friends who live in the area and organized with them.
I decided to go to a place I've always been attached to since I was a child because I was actually born nearby. It's the Tonnara di Scopello in Scopello, a place that was built back in the 13th century and was used for tuna fishing in the Mediterranean.
As you can see from the photos, the sea is just beautiful. You can't resist taking a dip in this gorgeous sea. Moreover, the temperature was perfect. It wasn't stifling hot, but just warm enough for a swim.
Of this historic place, which has undergone several modifications over the centuries, two towers remain today. Of course, tuna fishing is no longer practiced here, but tours are organized to see the fish in this beautiful sea, a place I recommend you come and discover if you visit Sicily.
Of course, I had a wonderful day. When there's good company, beautiful sea, and beautiful sun, what more could you want from life?
Unfortunately, in the evening, I had to take the other plane back to Bologna, and it was a truly sad moment for me. But unfortunately, I had to return to work. However, I must thank these low-cost airlines that still give us the opportunity to move fairly quickly in Italy.
Of course, in the end, I was really exhausted from the day, because even if you don't do much, just being in the sun tires you out a lot. But I had a lot of fun, and I hope to be able to do it again because in the end, I spent less than 35 euros for the round trip, and I think with all the thousands of kilometers I traveled, it's a great price.
