Hello everyone. I hope you are well and are having very nice days, especially on these important dates. It is my first time in Pinmaple and it will be a pleasure to share with you the beautiful experience I had this Saturday.
My partner and I decided to travel to the Zapata Swamp in Cuba, we believed that perhaps it was not the best time, precisely because of the season of the year we are in, but the southern seas always surprise us.
Guamá tourist center
The Zapata Swamp is home to the largest wetland in Cuba and one of the largest in Latin America and the Caribbean, therefore the abundance of flora and fauna that inhabits it is predictable. First, we made a brief but moving stop in Guamá, named in honor of the Taino chief of the island of Cuba who fought against Spanish colonization. We passed with the aim of visiting a Cuban crocodile farm that is located there, although sometimes we can find them free and wild, especially migrating American crocodiles that are not found in the farm, here we can only observe Cuban crocodiles. We had the opportunity to feed them, the strength of these animals when closing their jaws is super impressive and the experience was quite terrifying, but truly something to remember.
In Guamá we can also find the Taíno Village, rebuilt in honor of the home of the Taínos, since the swamp was a town of indigenous people from Cuba. To get to this place it is necessary to travel by boat through a beautiful lagoon called Laguna del Tesoro. I was wondering the whole way if there were crocodiles there, taking into account that in times past this was a hunting place, but well I was left with doubt and fear hahaha.
When we arrived at the village it was impressive to see how the place is perfectly decorated according to its name and tourist and instructive objective. We can even stay at a hotel called Hotel Guamá to fully enjoy the place, but as I already told you, my stop was brief.
Among the different pastimes in the place is enjoying a walk where I was able to appreciate sculptures that represent the daily life of the Taínos. The great Cuban sculptor Rita Longa, fascinated by indigenous culture, was the author of these incredible human-sized pieces of art made of marble dust and concrete. Here I leave you some images so you can enjoy them like I did.
Fish Cave
Later we continued our excursion through the swamp, arriving at a place that impressed me greatly, the Fish Cave, a cenote 70 meters deep. It was super shocking to read that poster that put it on. Despite the first impressions, I was dying to cool off in that peseta of cold waters with fish of all colors and sizes, and so I did, I always say that without little puddles where to end the day is not the same as an excursion, you should know the tropical climate that characterizes Cuba and understand how in the middle of December my desires are still to escape from the heat hahaha.
In front of the entrance to the Cave there is a small portion of coast that, why lie to you, is my favorite sea, I would dare to compare it with the seas that I am dying to visit, hopefully one day I can verify this similarity, although I will leave it on my labels. my post in view of the Filipino people in Hive, if anyone has traveled to Cuba, clear me of this doubt, since at the moment it is impossible for me to visit the Philippine Islands
Well continuing with this beautiful anecdote from my experience. In this place we have a diving center that I had the opportunity to enjoy, it was truly a moment of meditation, I had not felt anything like it before. At first I was a little afraid, it was my first time practicing this type of activity, but without a doubt I am dying to do it again. We went down 10 meters deep, I went with a handle with bread tied to a string around my neck, it was a wonderful experience to be able to feed the fish in the nature reserve that is located here, they all begin to surround you in search of food, they get so close that I was able to caress one of them, giant in fact.
In this place we spent the rest of the day enjoying those blue and transparent waters. We can also find gastronomic offers from the area, such as seafood, fish and crocodile. I actually had crocodile for lunch, I was dying to try how that meat would taste, and to be completely honest, it is one of the most delicious meats I have ever tried, also giving credit to the chef of the place.
Thank you all for reading, I hope you enjoy the anecdote as much as I do the moment and have contributed to the goal of this beautiful community. I hope to share more trips with you in the next few days, I already have something planned hahaha. Happy new year to all!!!

What a fantastic journey through the Zapata Swamp in Cuba! The Zapata Swamp is indeed a natural wonder, being the largest wetland in Cuba and one of the largest in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Guamá tourist center looks fascinating, especially the Cuban crocodile farm and the Taíno Village. The sculptures by the Cuban sculptor Rita Longa depicting the daily life of the Taínos are impressive and add a cultural touch to the visit.
