Discovering Clécy in Suisse Normande / À la découverte de Clécy en Suisse Normande [EN/FR]

Hello friends! How are you at the beginning of autumn 2024? 😊

Do you know Switzerland? Do you know Normandy?

These are not very close places and yet... Did you know that there is a natural region called Suisse Normande (Switzerland in Normandy) ?

It combines the landscapes of Switzerland and Normandy: mountains, granite rocks, plains and green forests.

And we went there for a walk!

We stopped in Clécy 📍, a small town located in Suisse Normande, in Calvados. It is also known for being the capital of Suisse Normande.

We started the walk by following the banks of the Orne, the river that crosses the town:

Then we followed the greenway, a walking path that follows the old railway line and runs along the Orne. So we gained a little height by taking steps to reach the top of the bridge.

From here, we had a superb view of the limestone cliffs and the entire valley!

After walking for an hour, we turned around and headed towards the center of the village.

Most of the houses are made of stone and the streets are cobbled. The village is full of charm!

There is a very beautiful church in the center of the village, called : L’Église St Pierre.

After this beautiful discovery, it was time for us to go home. But on the road, we made a short stop in a historic town: Falaise.

We wanted to discover this village, its stone houses, its cobbled streets, and especially its imposing castle. The castle of William the Conqueror. Moreover, Falaise is known for being the birthplace of William the Conqueror.

We really enjoyed visiting this village!

In short, more great discoveries not far from home: Swiss Normandy, its small friendly villages and its green and hilly landscapes. Everything we love!

And you, what are your latest discoveries? 😊

See you soon,
Johanna

Hello les amis ! Comment allez-vous en ce début d’automne 2024 ? 😊

À bientôt,
Johanna

Mixing Swiss and Normandy landscapes sounds like one of the best sceneries one can have out there. Each of the two have a specific beauty and when they make a team it's even more fascinating!
