Playa del Carmen is a city located on the Mayan Riviera in the state of Yucatán in Mexico. The city is divided into blocks and the main street, called Quinta Avenida, divides the area into two zones. The more touristy part is close to the beautiful beaches and the more internal one where it is possible to get to know the most authentic part of the city and experience the local Mexican spirit, an aspect that I personally prefer. I will never forget the energy I felt walking through the city streets for the first time, full of color and liveliness.
Playa del Carmen es una ciudad ubicada en la Riviera Maya en el estado de Yucatán en México. La ciudad está dividida en manzanas y la calle principal, llamada Quinta Avenida, divide el área en dos zonas. La parte más turística está cerca de las hermosas playas y la más interna donde es posible conocer la parte más auténtica de la ciudad y experimentar el espíritu mexicano local, aspecto que personalmente prefiero. Nunca olvidaré la energía que sentí al caminar por primera vez por las calles de la ciudad, llenas de color y vivacidad.

I really liked the originality of every single place and the numerous offers to eat different dishes every day although I admit that, being on sabbatical, I preferred to eat in cheaper areas or cook in the hostel. Being Italian, one day I really appreciated eating the carbonara in the same pan that I had used to cook the sauté and I also tried the spicy coconut... an incredible experience!
Me gustó mucho la originalidad de cada lugar y las numerosas ofertas para comer platos diferentes cada día aunque reconozco que, al estar de año sabático, preferí comer en zonas más económicas o cocinar en el hostel. Siendo italiana, un día aprecié mucho comer la carbonara en la misma sartén que había usado para cocinar el salteado y también probé el coco picante... una experiencia increíble!

The main square is called 'Parque Los Fundadores'. It is also a park and they have entertainment events. I was lucky enough to go to the jazz festival that takes place annually in Playa del Carmen, an incredible evening of excellent music which allowed me to discover the group 'Snarky Puppy'.
La plaza principal se llama 'Parque Los Fundadores'. También es un parque y tienen eventos de entretenimiento. Tuve la suerte de asistir al festival de jazz que se realiza anualmente en Playa del Carmen, una velada increíble de excelente música que me permitió descubrir al grupo 'Snarky Puppy'.

During my stay I was invited to a private Fandango concert. A unique experience... and there were two chickens in the bathroom!

Exploring the city I encountered beautiful graffiti and obviously the photos of beaches cannot be missing. Via road 44 you can reach 'Playa Pelicanos' and via road 72 you can reach 'Playa Avenida Colosio'.
Explorando la ciudad me encontré con hermosos graffitis y obviamente no pueden faltar las fotos de playas. Por la carretera 44 se llega a 'Playa Pelícanos' y por la carretera 72 se llega a 'Playa Avenida Colosio'.

It's ok friend! Nice place, this is the part of Mexico that couldn't visit, not enough time for all 😅 but that Maya portal is cool and beaches there... Love the positive Mexican atmosphere and typical food!

Looks like a great place to visit and it's awesome that you were able to go to various spots and even attend some events. Must be fun :) The beaches are cool and the Portal Maya is quite interesting.
