I've been to Cuba 4 times in my life over the past 5 years, two of them were layovers so they don't really count because even though I went to explore the city during the layover, it was only a few hours worth of exploration, unlike the other two times where I actually spent several days getting to know the secrets of some neighborhoods, where I was able to get familiar with some of the traditions, where I had the opportunity to walk among locals and especially, I was lucky enough to experience the touristic side of Havana as well as the real side of this magical city.
Here's what is probably the most massive photography compilation ever on Hive of the real side of Havana, Cuba, I hope you like it and you enjoy the photo tour.
Damn those dog tag things are huge.
AAAHHHHH LOOK AT THE KITTEN HOW TINY.
Was there a vintage car thing going on or is that what people drive normally in Cuba?
Man that old architecture is so beautiful. As I usually do I tried to imagine what the streets would have looked like in their heyday but I don't know enough about that area or culture for my mental image to be anywhere in the same vicinity as even vaguely remotely accurate.
Impressive photo dump! Sure, the buildings are photogenic, with their old architecture, shabby exterior or even when each section is painted in different colors. But what grabs my attention more than anything are the cars. Those shapes of 50's bodies could easily be the high point of automobile design, as I don't think any other style managed to capture that esthetic. Nice to see how they got preserved in Cuba... though I've heard even that is changing these days.
Was hoping the people finally burn the dictatorship alive last year.
Cuba is beautiful but yeah, so many political and social issues... I'd rather not even jump into that, but I agree with you.
Yeah that's part of the problem. Nobody seems to shine a light on the human rights violations that happen in that country.
I was vocal about Cuba for years after I visited, I even tried to get some activism going, the truth is, as long as the US in involved in every political matter in places like Cuba, nothing will change, for better or worse man.
US? WTF? It's the corrupt socialist dictatorship the one making the abuse. The US only label it as a dictatorship and stop doing business with them. No different than other dictatorships around the world like north Korea. But is like you blame the US for the on going abuse Kim Yun Un perform on the people of NK.
Just like Venezuela, is up to venezuelans and Cubans kill their oppressors, and it's up to the rest of the free world to keep the light on the human rights abuse the CUBAN DICTATORSHIP do in the country through the military.
Why are the dogs wearing an ID?
It states their name, their owner and that they are sterilized, I'm guessing so they are not taken away by the dog pound :D
Uh, it looks really awful and is creating a point of vulnerability. If the tag gets lose or sabotaged, that's might end very badly.
Holy smokes, that's a lot of Photos for real :D
