Volcan Flower Festival - One Million Flowers - Tierras Altas Panama

in Worldmappin3 months ago (edited)

Over the weekend, we had a lot of fun at the flower festival that is held every year in our town. This is the 8th year they have held it.

We went to the fairgrounds on Saturday afternoon. There are flowers everywhere! It wasn't super busy on Saturday, which was really nice.

There are different areas of the fair. There is a place for food and coffee, an area for vendors who sell artisan items, flowers for sale, and even a stage where they have singing and dance competitions.

There are also different competitions that people can participate in. For example, they can decorate a flower dress for a mannequin. They also have a bike decoration and hat decoration competition.

Everywhere you turn there are little sculptures with flowers on them. A cat, roosters, teacup and saucer, piano, a map of the area, a turtle, a hummingbird, and so much more! More than I could take photos of!

Another fun part of the fair is the carnival. In the past, I've watched the kids have fun on the rides, but this year, a friend went and had me ride two rides with her! It was a lot of fun, even if it was a little wild and I thought I was going to fly out of the spinning, tilting teacup ride!

The tickets to ride are $2 each, per person. Some of our kids rode the Ferris Wheel with rocking cages, but they didn't want to rock them. I don't blame them! It was going really fast toward the end of the ride.

We all got a chance to ride the bumper cars too. It wasn't too crowded, so they let us do some of the rides for a little longer than usual. When it is busy (in the evenings), the rides seem shorter, so I was glad we went in the afternoon.

This is a fun time in our community and we enjoyed getting to spend the afternoon with friends. While we were in the fair, we missed the cabalgata (horse parade) that was happening on the main road. The kids were having too much fun, we didn't want to leave early.

It costs $2 per adult and $1 per child 6-11 to enter into the fairgrounds. Our daughter also got to ride a tiny horse for 2 small laps for $3. It worked out as a pretty cheap afternoon for our family of 8.

The festivities around the flower festival are pretty fun. They even have live music last into the night (but thankfully we live about a mile from the noisy part) and fireworks at night. There is also a flower parade which happens on Sunday. Stay tuned for a post about it!

So nice and colourful festival, perfect both for adults and kids 💓

It really is a great event! We love attending each year!

Especially the human mannequin and the cat look very nice. These look very nice. I have never participated in such an event but if I get a chance in the future I will have a lot of fun. Thanks so much for sharing a post so beautiful

It was a lot of fun. We have lived here for 7 years and they've done this fair for 8 years. I think they skipped covid times as well, but I can't remember. Thanks for stopping by!

The artful way they used the flowers is fabulous. I really loved the cat! It looks like you had a great day at the flower festival. Yay!

We did. It was a most excellent day! It draws a huge crowd of people, and I love that we can walk there! They do a good job with all the flowers. They say there are more than a million!
