This modern design of fort was built about 460 years ago in 1566 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar. But it is said that its foundation was laid in the 12th century. It is a masterpiece of Mughal rule and its design is similar to Muslim and Hindu architecture. The fort has undergone many changes. After the end of Mughal rule, many buildings were built during Sikh rule. which later remained in the possession of the British Government.
After the formation of Pakistan, this royal fort became a part of Pakistan and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.Assalam o Alaikum and hello to #worldmappin community. Today I am going to share with you the visit of Shahi Fort Lahore, which I visited few days ago. This is my favorite place to visit.I have visited this place many times before, but I have never been bored and every time I enjoyed the visit of this royal fort.
Shahi Fort is located in the Punjab province of Lahore, Pakistan.Thousands of tourists come here on a daily basis. I had a lot of fun while visiting it. The day when I reached outside the Shahi Fort, I saw that the ticket office was very crowded. There were many men, women and families who had come to visit the Shahi Fort. I was accompanied by my younger brothers and both sons. It was my brothers' first experience of visiting the Shahi Fort in Lahore, so they were very excited.
I got the tickets from the ticket house and entered through the entrance gate of the Shahi Fort. I saw that the school students also came to tour the Shahi Fort in their school uniforms. For the entrance of Shahi Fort, the ticket was one hundred rupees per person, while the children's ticket was 30 rupees. In school or college uniform for students is entry free of cost, while foreigner pay hundred PKR to visit the shahi fort. The guided tours for the students and for foreigners were also available.
As soon as we entered the Shahi Fort, a road with a sloping surface leads to the fort on the right. It is very beautiful and the high walls around it add to its beauty. There were also several minibuses available to take you around the Shahi Fort, but I prefer walking.
Next to the entrance, I saw the Crafts House which is very beautiful and only families can enter. In this Crafts House, there were many kinds of paintings, books, hand-crafted wooden scenes, pictures and children's toys.beside this there were many paintings on the shahi fort buildings which were looking so attractive and reflecting the Mughal architecture.
First of all, as soon as we reached the building of Shahi Qilla, also known as Diwan e Aam, through the sloping path, we saw that many families were present in the park in front of Diwan Aam and they were enjoying a picnic party. Further, there was a rush of college and university students who had come to visit the Shahi Fort. The weather was very pleasant and the cool breeze blowing in the sun was heart-warming.
Diwan e Aam is the place where a court was held for the common people during the Mughal rule, the king used to listen to the complaints of the common people and issue orders to solve them. I saw in the Diwan e Aam premises that many tourists were taking pictures with their mobile phones while there were also photographers who took pictures of tourists with the help of digital cameras and gave them photos and received payment from them.
After spending some time there, we reached the Jahangir's quadrangle which is located just behind the Diwan e Aam. In the middle of the Jahangiri quadrangle Emperor Akbar's throne which is made of marble and the fountains around it presented a very attractive scene. But there were no flowers there because the spring season was coming and new beautiful and different colored flowers were being grown and old destroyed there. Therefore, there was less rush than usual while some people were sitting on the benches there and enjoying the sun.
On the east side of the Jahangir's Quadrangle is Akbari Hamam (Bath Rooms)and the Haveli Kharak Singh is present, while on the north side is the Mughal Gallery and in the west sikh gallery is situated.Dalaans were bothe side east and west are also situated.
We spent a lot of time there and then went to the Mughal Gallery where there were many coins, letters, paintings and old books of the Mughal era but could not take pictures due to the lack of lighting inside. In the Mughal gallary wooden made doors looking very beautiful.
The main attraction in the Mughal Gallery was the design of Taj Mahal which was made up of marble. It looks very beautiful. Many people were taking pictures of this Taj Mahal design. This design of Taj Mahal was just in front of the entrance of Mughal Gallery which was protected in glass.
As soon as we leave the Mughal Gallery and move towards the west, the path leads to the Diwan e Khas, which is a masterpiece of the Mughal era, which was built for special people. It is where the king used to meet with delegations and special guests from the world also used to meet at this place. Marble has been used a lot in the construction of this building, and its western side has ventilated marble lattices, which make it more attractive.Cool breeze passes through these lattices in the summer which feels good and from these lattices one can see outside the fort which looks very beautiful.
There were very beautiful fountains in front of Dewan Khas which added to the beauty of the premises while many people were seen busy in photography. Photographers there who were taking photos in royal attire.we also took some pictures there.
Then proceed to the Royal Baths, which were used by the Mughal kings for bathing. There was also a small pond in the courtyard of these baths where the kings used hot and cold water to bath.
Beyond this, on the north side was the princes' play area, where the princes often played and spent their time.
Moving further towards the west, there is a building made of marble, which was used by the king as solitude,
After that we reached the outer enclosure of Shesh Mahal where a photographer who had an eagle, a big size and beautiful parrot was taking pictures of tourists with these beautiful birds and getting paid. My sons were very happy to see these birds.
Along with this, two young men who were dressed in court clothes and many people and children were happy to take pictures with them. Unfortunately, the renovation work of Shesh Mahal was going on and it was closed for the general public that day.
Shesh Mahal is the heart of the Shahi Fort which was built by Shahjahan for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal which he loved very much. This palace was built with the work of glass which was very beautiful and charming.
Sheesh Mahal commemorates the love of Shahjahan Badshah and his Begum Mumtaz.
Finally, we descended the wide steps on the western side, which were built as elephant walkways, where handicrafts and jewelery stalls were located, leading directly to the entrance through which we entered.
The Alamgiri Gate of the Shahi Fort, which was built by Aurangzeb Alamgir, is always closed to the general public.we reached there from the side of Hazoori Garden.
So,I enjoyed the whole day to visit the shahi fort and took photography there.I love this historic place and it is my best place to visit. When someone come from anywhere to Lahore then i recommend to visit this historical place and you will enjoy very much. Thanks to read my post dear #hivers.
