Hello friends, let me tell you today about my first visit to Ust-Kamenogorsk city, in Kazakhstan.

The city of Ust-Kamenogorsk is located in the eastern part of Kazakhstan. It has a very beautiful nature. One unusual nature miracle for me was that the two rivers Irtysh and Ulba merged in the city.

I first came to Ust-Kamenogorsk 12 years ago. My friends from there invited me and my other friend to visit them. We went by train, the journey took, I think, a day and a half.

I remember how for our trip my friend's grandmother provided us with different kinds of good home made food. I remember that we just had tons of food, and we couldn’t eat it all.

In Ust-Kamenogorsk we stayed with friends, they introduced us to their friends. We stayed there about a week. Our friends showed us the city, the river, and several parks.

Sunsets by the river were just amazing. People who live in this city very often visit Altay Mountains. I heard it’s it has beautiful landscapes. People go there for snowboarding and skiing in winter. Also Altay honey is very popular and considered to be one of the best in Kazakhstan.

I want to note that people from Ust-Kamenogorsk are very kind and friendly. New friends were very hospitable too, they spend a lot of time taking us around the city, and showing us places where they usually go to have picnic, and cafes where they like to hang out.

We also went to English conversation club all together. It's really cool to have friends in different cities and countries. It gives us a chance to meet even more friends, to travel, and get culturally enriched. I really miss those old days, how easily we could travel around, and how brave and curious we were being college students.

We met several English club’ teachers all of them were Americans. We were students at the time, so it was very unusual for us to be able to communicate with native English speakers.

That's what I remembered from the good things. There also were not so great thing that we discovered.

I remember, our friend telling us about how Ust-Kamenogorsk has very harmful substances in the air from the factories, and that sometimes the air is so dirty that people get a sore throat.
