The last day of my short visit to Malmö had arrived. Our flight to Krakow wasn't until the evening, but I always get a bit stressed before traveling, so I didn't plan anything specific. The weather was wonderful, so after checking out of the hotel, we decided to spend the whole day wandering around the city.
We started at the "Ribban" beach, which we were already familiar with and was very close to our hotel.
It was Monday, and the only people around were dog walkers and a few families with young children.

Although it was only the beginning of June, the sun was already beating down on us. We decided to head towards the city and find a place with at least a bit of shade.

At the corner of the square, at the end of Södergatan Street, an extraordinary orchestra is marching. It's Optimistorkestern, a group of bronze sculptures that is frequently visited and photographed by tourists. This was the intention of its creator, who wanted to make his city even more attractive. He succeeded, as the Optimist Orchestra has become a well-known landmark on the map of Malmö.

And finally, the place we needed - a charming Slottsträdgården park. This place has absolutely everything you need to relax, unwind, stroll, or spend your free time actively. You'll find a pond, numerous canals and lawns, gardens, a café, as well as a fort and a historic windmill. It was the perfect place to spend our last hours in Malmö!
What I liked the most was the abundance of birds living here, which felt very comfortable around people. They strolled with their young along the paths and lawns. I had the same feeling as in Copenhagen - that birds are welcome and safe here.
I even found a sculpture that somehow illustrates this harmonious coexistence :)

And finally, Malmö Castle, built in the 16th century, a fortress surrounded by a moat and canals. I told you this park has everything!
There is a museum on the castle grounds, but we only entered the courtyard.
The time passed so pleasantly and quickly! At 4:00 PM, we left the park and headed towards the station to catch the bus to the airport.
And only just before our departure did I have the chance to look inside the station building, which turned out to be stunning!
The station was built in the mid-19th century, and you can feel the atmosphere of a bygone era. Such places usually go unnoticed in the rush of travel, but they are definitely worth paying attention to!
I had exactly the same experience during a short visit to Prague. I accidentally stumbled into the historic part of the station, finished in Art Nouveau style, just an hour before my train departed. It seems I don't learn from my mistakes 😅.
How could I sum up my short trip to Malmö and Copenhagen? Above all, I felt very comfortable and almost at home. I hardly noticed that I was in a different country. We quickly figured out the transportation and other basic things. In both cities, I had the impression that they are very livable - they are well-connected, clean, and full of greenery. They are not overwhelming. And these birds - both in the cities and outside of them! A brief visit to the Falsterbo peninsula was wonderful. What probably excites me the most is nature, in all its forms. A few years ago, I planned a trip to the Danish island of Bornholm, but I never made it there. It's a shame because I think I would have felt just as good there.
So... what next? I'm not sure. Maybe I'll write about trips to the beautiful Polish mountains, or perhaps a bit about Iceland. We'll see :)
