The weather has been raging since yesterday; it looks like the final battle between winter and spring. Almost everyone is waiting for it, even though February is not over. It's better to walk in the evenings when you can't see the tired, last year's grass and the rubbish that's left over from the melting snow. However, on Sunday, I went to the park in the city center already around noon. I wanted to cheer on a friend who is an amateur runner and participates in various run events. This time it was a Valentine's Day run with a heart-shaped route ❤️
I rarely take part in such events; if I do, it's only as a supporter. I really enjoyed the atmosphere - many people were in fancy dress, and young children enthusiastically cheered on their parents.
The weather was unusually good, so the park was sunny and colorful :)
Some of the costumes were very funny :)
After the run, we went for coffee and cake, and then I went for a lonely walk around the old town to burn calories ;)
I didn't have a specific plan; I just walked around enjoying the sunshine. Believe it or not, even though I have been visiting the old town regularly for decades, I still manage to come across an unfamiliar street.
This one, for example, is a few minutes walk from my former university.
And this is a place I know very well - Collegium Novum, the main building of the Jagiellonian University. A very long time ago, I used to attend lectures here :)
Right next door is the Institute of History in the Witkowski Collegium, where I used to go most often. I had my Master's thesis defense here ages ago ;)
The memories come alive - the stress of exams and queues to the dean's office ;)
There are also good memories - the satisfaction after passing exams and parties in Krakow pubs, of which there were plenty in the area.
Let's move on.
Sienna Street, leading to the Small and Main Market Square, we can see the towers of St Mary's Basilica.
At the back of the Słowacki Theatre.
Planty - a park on the site of the defunct old city walls.
One of the defensive system's remnants is the Barbican, here viewed through the Florian Gate.
And here we have a preserved section of the wall with a tower. It is the Alley of the Czartoryski Princes. - I love that corner a lot.
I finished my chaotic walk on Pijarska St with the hope that I'd neutralized the cake I had eaten an hour earlier ;)
I send warm greetings from magical (even at this time of year) Krakow. Have a great weekend!

I think I remember the fun run. It started in Park Jordana and then they run around Blonia, right? :)
